After recording many customer feedbacks, on the morning of August 20, Viettel Money announced the suspension of the toll collection for processing transactions through the station for customers linked to ePass traffic accounts.
The fee level previously announced was 6,600 VND/month for individual customers and 66,000 VND/month for organizational and business customers.
However, besides the transaction processing fee through the station, many vehicle owners said that ePass accounts still incur other fees during use, with levels of 6,600 VND, 13,200 VND or 38,500 VND/month.
Talking to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Tran Anh Tu (Hanoi) said that he had not paid attention to this fee before. Only when there was information that Viettel Money collected transaction processing fees for ePass accounts did he check the transaction history and realized that his account had incurred periodic fees.
I was deducted 13,200 VND on the 1st day of each month, from March 2026 to now. Actually, this is not too much money, so I didn't pay attention or question anything.
However, in recent days, when newspapers and social networks have reported on the preparation for collecting account management fees, I have wondered why my account has been deducted this fee from before," Mr. Tran Anh Tu shared.
In addition to Mr. Tu, on social networking forums, many accounts also have similar questions about the above fee.
Regarding this content, on the morning of August 20, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong newspaper, a representative of Vietnam Digital Transportation Joint Stock Company (ePass) said that the fee of 6,600 VND, 13,200, 38,500 or 200,000 VND/month is a text message fee to notify vehicles passing through the station that the unit has applied for a long time.
In fact, this is ePass's account management fee, for example, not only managing SMS through the station, deducting parking fees but also other information. Realizing that the phrase account management may cause misunderstanding for customers in the message content, we have updated the message content," said an ePass representative.
Also according to ePass, the basic package of the vehicle notification text message service through the station is 13,200 VND/20 SMS/month (No traffic violation notification and vehicle registration deadline reminder function).
Customers who register after the 15th of that month will have a fee of 6,600 VND until the end of the month (1/2 of the basic package fee), with the number of messages being 10.
With a fee of 38,500 VND/month, and 200,000 VND/month will apply to business customers (corresponding to the higher number of messages).
In addition, an ePass representative said that customers can completely turn this service off or on depending on their usage needs.
