Viettel eSIM: Touch is connection - activation does not require QR code

From August 18, 2026, Viettel officially deploys the eSIM activation feature on devices using the iOS operating system according to an automatic mechanism, without scanning the QR code.

This is a new step in the journey to bring technology to simplify the digital experience for customers, helping to save half the time compared to before.

Touch is connection

Instead of having to send a QR code to another device to scan after completing the eSIM registration steps such as choosing a number, choosing a package and verifying personal information, and having to store the code for use when transferring eSIM to another device, now with devices using the iOS operating system, customers can activate eSIM right on the machine they are using without needing a QR code.

With Viettel's new feature, the entire activation process is simplified to only one operation: customers press the activation button right on the device, the eSIM will be automatically assigned to the device, helping to save significant time compared to before. This is a technical step that requires Viettel to master and self-develop a direct connection solution between the core network system and the terminal device - a completely new technology in Vietnam.

Reduce QR codes, add experience

The eSIM activation feature without scanning the QR code promises to bring a better user experience, helping users:

●No QR code scanning device needed: Customers no longer have to use another device to scan the code, saving time and effort.

● No need to store QR codes: Completely eliminates the risk of loss, forgetting or leaking QR codes during use.

●Simplify the conversion of eSIM between devices: When changing to a new phone, customers can quickly convert eSIM without having to go through many steps of procedures as before.

From Telco to Techco: Simplifying digital experiences

The eSIM activation feature without QR code is a specific proof of the shift from a traditional telco to a techco that puts user experience at the center of all technology decisions: instead of requiring customers to adapt to technical processes (code scanning, file saving, manual conversion), Viettel proactively redesigns the entire process for technology to adapt to people's simple needs.

This is also part of Viettel's comprehensive digital transformation strategy, aiming to completely digitize the customer's telecommunications service experience journey - from registration, activation to service use - while affirming Viettel's pioneering role in shaping new technology standards for Vietnam's telecommunications industry.

The new technology is ready to serve on a large scale, applied to customers who buy eSIMs through the Viettel Tammi application, website, store directly... It is known that in the near future, the network operator will continue to upgrade the system so that eSIM conversion does not require a QR code.
