Electricity bills do not rely on customer feelings
In the latest press release, the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) said that in recent days, many opinions have appeared on social networks expressing concern about the high price of electricity bills in August in Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces.
Notably, this reflection comes from the reality that last August, many localities were affected by storms and floods, often had power outages, and the weather was also cooler, so the demand for cooling equipment decreased. Therefore, some customers think that the electricity bill in August is "unusually high".
EVNNPC believes this is unreasonable, because each electricity bill is calculated based on the electricity consumption output recorded through meters, completely independent of the number of days of power outage or the subjective feelings of customers. The increase or decrease in electricity output is also affected by many technical factors and usage habits, including:
Time of power consumption: Although there are storms and power outages in August, there are many days of high heat, which still increase the demand for air conditioners, fans, refrigerators, hot air frills, etc., contributing to a larger actual electricity output.

Regarding the increase in electricity bills in August in Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces, after direct inspection at customer's request, there were a number of cases of electrical leakage behind meters, causing electricity output to increase dramatically.
Equipment usage habits: Equipment such as refrigerators, washing machines, hot containers, water pumps... still work regularly, even if the family rarely uses air conditioners. This is a significant group of electricity consumption that customers often do not pay attention to.
To ensure their rights, customers can compare the metric index with the invoice or request the electricity company to check again in case of doubt.
Electricity industry staff will coordinate to check the operation of meters, metric indexes, and electricity recording schedules, and clearly explain the method of calculating electricity bills, ensuring publicity, transparency, and accuracy.
Warning about spreading information about "copying" recommendations related to electricity bills in August
On the Fanpage, EVNNPC also issued a warning about the phenomenon of spreading false information about electricity bills on social networks.
The warning content stated: "Recently, many unverified information related to the electricity bill for August 2025 has been circulating on social networks, causing public confusion and affecting the reputation of the electricity industry".
EVNNPC said that on September 4, Quang Chinh Commune Police (Thanh Hoa) invited citizen C.T.H to work for posting false information on Facebook about electricity bills. Through verification, this household bought electricity from a unit outside EVN. The poster admitted the mistake and pledged not to repeat the offense.
According to information in Thanh Hoa Newspaper, on the morning of September 4, 2025, on his personal Facebook, C.T.H posted an article with the content of high electricity bills.
In a short time, this post has been shared more than 4,800 times on many personal pages and large groups. Some pages are still distorted, adding content in the direction of taking pictures and fabricating, seriously affecting the image of the electricity industry.
Immediately after the incident, the leaders of Thanh Hoa Power Company directed functional departments and affiliated units to coordinate with local authorities and the police to check and verify the person who posted the article to clarify the information.

Through investigation, it is known that this is citizen C.T.H, residing in Ngoc Tra I village, Quang Chinh commune, Thanh Hoa province. That same evening, Quang Chinh commune police invited this person to the headquarters for questioning. At the meeting, C.T.H admitted that posting unverified information was wrong, causing controversy in public opinion, affecting the reputation of the organization and individual involved.
It is known that the unit supplying electricity to this household is Thanh Hoa Electricity Business Management Joint Stock Company - an electricity sales organization not under the direct management system of the electricity industry. After that, C.T.H proactively corrected the information on personal and group pages that he shared and pledged not to repeat the offense.
Previously, the Northern Power Corporation warned about spreading information about "copying" the proposal related to the electricity bill in August 2025.
With articles calling for "firm names" and "sharing" recommendations related to the unusually high electricity bill in August 2025 appearing on social networks recently, EVNNPC believes that these contents are mostly copied and reposted on personal pages, fanpages... to attract views, increase interaction, without specific data or customer information.
"This is a phenomenon of taking advantage of people's psychology to inflate, causing public confusion", EVNNPC affirmed and said that "false and distorted information will be strictly handled".
