On November 9, at the 17th Global Rice Trade Conference organized by The Rice Trader (TRT) in Phnom Penh (Cambodia), Ong Cua ST25 rice from Vietnam and Phka Romdoul rice from Cambodia both won the first prize in the "Best Rice in the World" Contest in 2025.
At the event, Ho Quang Tri Private Enterprise - Ong Cua ST25 rice producer - shared about the journey of researching and developing high-quality ST fragrant rice varieties over the past 30 years, along with the positive impacts of the World's Best Rice award. Thereby contributing to increasing farmers' income, building a high-quality rice brand in Vietnam and opening doors to demanding markets such as the US, Japan, Europe and Australia.
Having been continuously among the best types of rice in the world for many years, Ong Cua ST25 rice continues to affirm Vietnam's pioneering position on the world rice map.
In 2019, at the 11th World Rice Trade Conference in Manila (Philippines), Vietnam's ST25 rice surpassed rice from countries such as Thailand and Cambodia to receive the highest award for the first time.
By 2023, at the Global Rice Trade Conference organized by The Rice Trader in Cebu (Philippines), ST25 rice will continue to receive this noble title.
Thus, up to now, ST25 rice researched by engineer Ho Quang Cua and his colleagues has won the highest prize 3 times at the World's Best Rice Competition.
