Gia Lai - After the storm, heavy rain and strong water flowed a section of the road leading to Hratch village, So commune, leaving more than 1,000 people isolated.

On November 9, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Son - Chairman of the People's Committee of So commune said that the circulation of storm No. 13 caused heavy rain, causing floodwaters to sweep away a section of the concrete road leading to Hratch village.

The incident isolated 234 households with 1,172 people, posing a potential risk of insecurity when people had to risk wade through the stream to get to the commune center.

"This route is a vital route connecting the village with the commune center and neighboring areas, but has now suffered serious landslides at two locations, causing complete congestion," said Mr. Son.

Specifically, at Km5+600, the culvert and concrete roadbed were washed away about 120 m; at Km7+300, floodwaters broke a 50 m long concrete section.

Mr. Son is concerned that the road being cut off seriously affects people's lives, especially students' travel, study, medical transportation, trade and socio-economic development of Hratch village.

The People's Committee of So commune has issued a document requesting the Department of Agriculture and Environment and related units to urgently inspect and survey the situation, and at the same time develop an emergency handling and remedial plan to soon reopen the route, ensure traffic safety and stabilize people's lives.
