Domestic coffee prices
On October 1, coffee prices in key Central Highlands regions remained at an average of VND 115,900/kg, unchanged from the closing price at the end of September.
In Dak Lak, coffee prices remained at 116,000 VND/kg.
Lam Dong is the only locality to record a slight increase of 400 VND/kg, bringing the price to 114,700 VND/kg.
Gia Lai maintains the same level of 115,800 VND/kg.
Dak Nong (old) also remained stable at 116,000 VND/kg.
Compared to the peak in August, although prices have stabilized, the market is still at a net decrease of VND 6,100/kg compared to the peak of VND 122,000/kg set at the end of August.
World coffee prices
At the end of the last trading session of September (September 30), world coffee prices had a slight recovery after the previous adjustment session.
Robusta price ( London): The contract for November/25 increased by 14 USD/ton, closing at 4,200 USD/ton.
Arabica price (New York): Arabica also increased by 2.65 US cents/lb, closing at 374.85 US cents/lb.
The slight recovery of both exchanges shows that the previous decrease was only profit-taking and the market is still holding the recovery trend.
Assessment and forecast
The coffee market entered October with a solid foundation, despite having gone through a volatile September.
The stable domestic prices after the international market had a slight recovery shows the dominating optimism.
The basic factors supporting prices remain intact: record low inventories and supply pressure due to US tariff policies. This will continue to be a major driver in October.
In the short term, the market is likely to continue to consolidate at the current price level, before looking for new momentum to retest higher resistance levels.
