According to Lao Dong reporters, the price of green vegetables at some traditional markets in Da Nang City is increasing, many consumers are tightening their spending.
In Hoa Cuong market area (Da Nang), the price of green vegetables such as water spinach, green onions, carrots, lettuce... has increased by 20-30% compared to last week.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien (character's name has been changed, a trader at Hoa Cuong market) - said that in recent days, many provinces and cities have suffered from prolonged floods, affecting people's vegetable production and harvesting, and cutting off traffic. Many large vegetable growing areas of Da Nang City were flooded, causing shortages of goods and increasing prices.
According to Ms. Lien, water spinach and amaranth at the market doubled compared to last week, the selling price was 20,000-35,000 VND/bunch, beetroot was 25,000-30,000 VND/bunch, green onions and fennel were previously only a few thousand VND but now it has also increased to 10,000-12,000 VND/bunch...

Unexpectedly, with the high price of vegetables, Ms. Tran Thi Binh (living in Hoa Cuong ward, Da Nang) also had to tighten her spending last week. Ms. Binh said that this morning she went to the market to buy a gourd that was less than 1kg but cost 47,000 VND, a bunch of water spinach for 30,000 VND/gourd, and 10,000 VND/gourd.
"After the flood, the selling price of many types of vegetables increased rapidly, and family spending also increased, just the daily vegetable purchase for a family of 4 increased from 50,000 VND to nearly 100,000 VND, more than double compared to before" - Ms. Binh lamented.
In the Cam Le market area, Ms. Le Thi Tuyet (living in Cam Le ward, Da Nang) also shared that the price of green vegetables is "dancing" after the storm and flood, causing her family's spending to be significantly disrupted.
Ms. Tuyet said that her family cooked a crab soup pot and sold out 100,000 VND. Brick crab fee is 50,000 VND, the remaining 50,000 is for green vegetables and spices. Many consumers like Ms. Tuyet have to consider very carefully each type of vegetable so as not to exceed the expected spending.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade recently issued a document directing the Departments of Industry and Trade of provinces and cities to proactively reserve goods, ensure adequate supply of essential goods and serve the work of overcoming storms and floods.
At the same time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade requires market management forces to monitor and coordinate with businesses to commit to continuous supply, keep prices stable, and avoid scarcity.
The Market Management Department of Da Nang City - said that the unit is strengthening inspection and supervision of business activities, especially at traditional markets, supermarkets and convenience stores, to prevent speculation, hoarding, and unreasonable price increases during and after storms.
The authorities also monitor the price movements of essential goods such as rice, instant noodles, eggs, meat, vegetables, fruits, bottled water, etc. to promptly handle violations, contributing to stabilizing the market.
