World oil prices today
World oil prices fell across the board on November 12 (Vietnam time). At 11:06 a.m., WTI crude oil was at 67.92 USD/ barrel, down 0.12 USD/ barrel, or 0.18%. WTI crude oil closed the previous session at 68.04 USD/ barrel and opened today's session at 68.06 USD/ barrel.
Brent crude oil was at 71.73 USD/ barrel, down 0.10 USD/ barrel, or 0.14 percent. Brent crude oil closed the previous session at 71.83 USD/ barrel and opened today at 71.90 a barrel.
Thus, at the end of the first trading session of the week, world oil prices fell sharply by more than 2%, and the downward trend continued in this morning's trading session. According to analysts, Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election could continue to affect the market.
The dollar index has edged up from its highs just after last week’s U.S. presidential election as markets await more clarity on future U.S. policy. A stronger dollar makes dollar-denominated commodities like oil more expensive for holders of other currencies, which tends to weigh on prices.
Meanwhile, China’s latest economic stimulus plan disappointed investors looking for demand growth in the world’s second-largest oil consumer, amid a supply glut that looks set to rise by 2025.
