World oil prices today
World oil prices increased across the board today. At 10:27, WTI crude oil was at $78.25/barrel, up $0.40/barrel, or 0.51%. WTI crude oil closed the previous trading session at $77.85/barrel and opened today's session at $77.87/barrel.
Brent crude oil was at $81.62 a barrel, up $0.33 a barrel, or 0.41 percent. Brent crude oil closed the previous session at $81.29 a barrel and opened today at $81.33 a barrel.
Thus, world oil prices fluctuated strongly when they simultaneously plummeted in yesterday's trading session (January 16) and then rebounded in this morning's session. Accordingly, at the end of the session on January 16, both Brent and WTI oil decreased by 0.9% and 1.7%, respectively. After that, both oil products increased by around 0.5% in the morning session on January 17.
The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas has eased the security burden on oil prices, analysts said, but investors remain cautious amid concerns about breaches of the agreement.
Meanwhile, the US Commerce Department recently reported that US retail sales increased in December, indicating strong demand in the US. Investors said that this data reinforced the US Federal Reserve's cautious approach in cutting interest rates this year.
Domestic gasoline prices today
On January 17, retail gasoline prices according to the price list announced by Petrolimex in regions 1 and 2 (46 provinces and cities currently applying) are as follows:
The above domestic retail price of gasoline and oil was adjusted by the Ministry of Finance - Industry and Trade in the price management session on the afternoon of January 16, 2025. Accordingly, the price of gasoline and oil products increased simultaneously.
The price of E5 RON 92 gasoline increased by 319 VND/liter, RON 95-III gasoline increased by 201 VND/liter, diesel increased by 539 VND/liter, kerosene increased by 462 VND/liter. Notably, fuel oil increased by 999 VND/kg.

Hoang Trong General Trading Co., Ltd: Diesel oil 0.05S - II: 1,050 VND/liter, applied at Hai Linh warehouse, Hai Phong; gasoline RON 95 - III: 850 VND/liter, applied at Hai Linh warehouse, Hai Phong;
Tu Luc Petroleum: Discount on Diesel 0.05S-II: 1,050 VND/liter; Diesel 0.001S-V: 900; RON 95 - III gasoline: 900 VND/liter; E5 gasoline: 850 VND/liter.
MIPEC Gasoline: Discount on RON 95 - III gasoline: 700 VND/liter; E5 gasoline: 600 VND/liter; Diesel 0.05S-II: 700 VND/liter. Applicable to the Northern region.
