World oil prices today

World gasoline and oil prices increased sharply in the first session of the week. WTI oil and Brent oil increased by 2.55% and 2.65% respectively. By this morning's session, both oil commodities continued the upward trend. At 8:46 am (Vietnam time), WTI oil price was at 84.14 USD/barrel, up 0.40 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 0.49%. WTI oil price closed the previous trading session at 83.74 USD/barrel, and opened today's session at 84.12 USD/barrel.

Brent oil was at 91.17 USD/barrel, up 0.12 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 0.13%. Brent oil closed the previous trading session at 91.05 USD/barrel, and opened today's session at 91.02 USD/barrel.

This is the highest closing price for both oil commodities in about 2 weeks.

World oil prices continue to rise as US-Iran talks continue to be deadlocked, while tensions in the Middle East increase concerns about the risk of disruption to global energy supplies.

Last week, both types of oil increased sharply after attacks targeting oil tankers of the Abu Dhabi National Energy Corporation (ADNOC) and the oil refinery of Saudi Aramco Energy Corporation.

Last weekend, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said Tehran has not decided to resume negotiations with the US. Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said that negotiations with Oman on the agreement to manage the Strait of Hormuz are still ongoing but are prolonged due to the complexity of the issue.

The ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz also continues to be low, in the context of the US and Iran making contradictory statements about controlling this strategic maritime route.

Sea transport data shows that on August 11, only 8 ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz, a sharp decrease compared to about 125-140 ships per day before the Middle East conflict broke out.
