World oil price today
World oil prices today turned down. At 10:54 (Vietnam time), WTI crude oil was at 71.82 USD/barrel, down 0.28 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 0.39%. WTI crude oil closed the previous trading session at 72.10 USD/barrel, opening today's session at 72.11 USD/barrel.
Brent oil was at 75.78 USD/barrel, down 0.26 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 0.34%. Brent oil closed the previous trading session at 75.84 USD/barrel and opened today's session at 75.85 USD/barrel.
Thus, world oil prices fluctuated strongly. At the end of the trading session on February 19, world crude oil prices increased simultaneously, with both Brent and WTI oil increasing by 0.3% and 0.6% respectively. By this morning's session, both of these items had turned to decrease.
According to analysts, the market is being affected by factors such as geopolitical tensions related to Russia, Iran and the policies of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
In Russia, about a third of the capacity at the Kropotkinskaya oil pumping station (about 380,000 barrels/day) has not yet recovered after the drone attack. In the Middle East, negotiations between Israel and Hamas on a ceasefire agreement could impact oil prices due to the risk of supply disruption.
In addition, the tariffs imposed by the Trump administration could reduce oil prices by weakening the global economy and fuel demand. Concerns about demand from Europe and China also limited price increases.
Data from the American Petroleum Institute showed oil inventories increased by 3.339 million barrels in the week ended February 14, lower than previous weeks, reflecting strong demand from the US market. Analysts also believe that OPEC and its allies may postpone plans to increase supply in April.
