Thus, world oil prices continue to increase today. At the end of the trading session on February 18, world crude oil prices increased sharply, with both Brent and WTI oil increasing by 0.8% and 1.6%, respectively.
According to analysts, the increase in oil prices comes from the disruption of increased supply in Russia and the US. The oil market continues to be under pressure as the port of Novorossiysk in the Black Sea, Russia, has temporarily suspended loading and unloading operations due to the storm. This is despite the fact that oil exports from the port in February were adjusted to increase by 0.24 million tons to 2.25 million tons, equivalent to about 590,000 barrels/day.
In the US, oil supply is also affected as the North Dakota pipeline Agency estimates that output in the country's third largest oil producing state could fall by up to 150,000 barrels/day due to the impact of a sudden cold spell.
Traders are currently closely monitoring developments related to OPEC+'s output policy. Analysts expect the organization to soon make a decision on whether to maintain the plan to increase supply from April or delay it to a later date.
