By this morning's session, both oil commodities continued the upward trend. At 8:08 am (Vietnam time), WTI oil price was at 84.74 USD/barrel, up 0.35 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 0.41%. World oil prices rose to their highest level in nearly 4 weeks in the trading session on August 19, after the United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced the suspension of all trade and financial transactions with Iran, amid the continued complicated developments in the Middle East region, increasing concerns about the risk of supply disruption.
Previously, on August 18, President Donald Trump said that the US did not conduct and did not plan to negotiate with Iran, and affirmed that the Strait of Hormuz is operating normally. However, Iran declared that this vital maritime route is still closed.
Meanwhile, fighting between Yemeni government forces and Houthi continues with attacks by missiles and UAVs in many areas.
This escalation comes after recent Houthi missile and UAV attacks targeting government-controlled areas in Yemen, including the port city of Mocha on the Red Sea coast, Marib province, as well as oil facilities in Saudi Arabia.
