Gasoline and oil prices today, January 8th: Unexpected reversal

World gasoline prices today

World gasoline and oil prices today simultaneously increased after the previous sharp decrease. At the end of yesterday's trading session (January 7), WTI and Brent oil prices decreased by 2% and 1.2% respectively.

By this morning's session, both oil items tended to reverse. At 12:48 (Vietnam time), WTI crude oil was at 56.24 USD/barrel, up 0.25 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 0.45%. WTI oil closed the previous trading session at a price of 55.99 USD/barrel; and opened the first session of the year at a price of 56.36 USD/barrel.

Brent oil was at 60.24 USD/barrel, up 0.28 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 0.47%. Brent oil closed the previous trading session at a price of 59.96 USD/barrel; and opened today's session at a price of 60.38 USD/barrel.

Domestic gasoline prices today

On January 8th, retail gasoline and oil prices according to the price list announced by Petrolimex in region 1 and region 2 are as follows:

The above-mentioned domestic retail gasoline and oil prices are adjusted by the inter-Ministry of Industry and Trade - Finance from 3 pm on December 31, 2025

Accordingly, E5RON92 gasoline decreased by 278 VND/liter; RON95 gasoline decreased by 89 VND/liter; diesel oil decreased by 2 VND/liter; kerosene decreased by 15 VND/liter; mazut oil decreased by 37 VND/kg.

According to a representative of a gasoline and oil business, domestic gasoline and oil prices will fluctuate according to the world gasoline and oil situation. According to current market developments, it is predicted that in the next price adjustment period, retail gasoline and oil prices may decrease.

In which, the forecast price of RON 95 - III gasoline decreased by 340 VND/liter; E5 RON 92 - II gasoline decreased by 200 VND/liter; Diesel oil increased by 170 VND/liter.
