On September 22, information from the Lao Cai Provincial Economic Zone Management Board, import and export activities through border gates in the area continued to maintain growth momentum in the first 9 months of 2026.
Total import and export value reached 2.403 billion USD.
In which, export turnover reached 1.42 billion USD, up 123% compared to the same period in 2025; imports reached 830.51 million USD, up 18%.
Other types of import and export such as temporary import for re-export, bonded warehouses, border gate transfer, transit goods... reached 121.59 million USD, an increase of 30% compared to the same period.
Road international border gates accounted for the majority of the value of goods, reaching 2.06 billion USD in 9 months, an increase of 77.69% compared to the same period in 2025.
The main export commodity groups include peeled wood, dragon fruit, watermelon, durian, jackfruit, banana, rambutan, mango, cassava...
On the import side, the main items are flowers, ornamental plants, fresh vegetables and fruits, coke, fertilizers, machinery and equipment, confectionery and electricity.
Meanwhile, the international railway border gate recorded a total value of import and export goods of 335.72 million USD, an increase of 12% compared to the same period last year.
Goods processed mainly through the railway line include yellow phosphorus, red phosphorus and phosphoric acid.
At Muong Khuong border gate and other border openings, entry and exit activities and goods exchange of border residents are stable.
Along with the increase in import and export activities, in the first 9 months of 2026, budget revenue from border gate activities reached 1,816.62 billion VND, an increase of 44.3% compared to the same period in 2025.
