The application leading the race
In the context of Vietnam rising to become one of the fastest growing economies in Southeast Asia, Grab is increasingly affirming its role as a "pioneer" in promoting the platform economy. As the No. 1 brand in the field of booking and delivery, after more than 10 years of presence in Vietnam, Grab has formed a digital service ecosystem connecting millions of users, driver partners and traders across the country through its digital platform.
According to research recently published by Rakuten Insight Global, Grab is the most used car calling brand, with 55% of users in big cities and 54% in other regions voting, emphasizing the strong penetration and extensive coverage of this business nationwide.

The study also shows that Grab's outstanding advantages are its wide network of drivers and user-friendly applications, ensuring quick access (26%) and a simple booking process (17%), especially during rush hour, rain, early morning or late night. Thanks to this advantage, Grab not only brings direct benefits to users, but also brings more income opportunities to partners. In 2024, the number of new driver partners participating in the platform increased by 22% compared to the previous year, showing the appeal and ability to improve livelihoods that Grab brings.
Not stopping at technology car calling, Grab continues to be the No. 1 brand in the food delivery segment according to momentum Works' report. Thanks to the GrabFood platform, more and more partners, including many small stores, have been supported in digital transformation and business development in the technology era.
In terms of macroeconomics, the report from the Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM) also shows Grab's contribution to the platform economy. In 2022, Grab contributed 7.8% of the added value in the transportation platform industry, 1.31% of the added value of the platform industry and 0.13% of Vietnam's overall GDP.

Notably, Grab has contributed 0.23% of the GRDP of the Red River Delta (including Hanoi) and 0.17% of the GRDP of the Southeast region (including Ho Chi Minh City). These figures further affirm Grab's role in the digital economy, while emphasizing the positive impact on local economic development.
Vietnam is a meaningful and important market for Grab. We are proud to have played an important role in promoting the digital economy here very early, but now, Grab has to focus on promoting more, said Mr. Alejandro Osorio, CEO of Grab Vietnam.
Continue to contribute more to the digital economy
Mr. Osorio commented that the market still has a lot of un discovered potential and many people have not yet fully benefited from the digital economy. As a digital platform, Grab aims to do more, faster and expand scale while increasing the level of penetration so that all entities in the ecosystem can benefit from the development of the digital economy.
Along with Vietnam's smart city construction and development strategy, Grab is committed to continuing to contribute to the modernization of public transport by implementing smart and sustainable solutions to meet people's convenient travel needs. For example, cooperation with metro lines in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City has helped people's travel journey become more convenient and faster. More importantly, seamless connection of Grab buses to metro stations will help reduce the number of vehicles traveling on the road, increase traffic efficiency and contribute to the development of public transport.
Accompanying the national digital transformation strategy, Grab also strengthens cooperation with many provinces and cities to accelerate the digital transformation process in the locality. Most recently, Grab signed a cooperation agreement with Hue city, focusing on implementing programs and initiatives to support the city's digital transformation goals. The agreement covers many areas from transportation, tourism to supporting business households, traders and local people to improve digital skills, thereby contributing to promoting socio-economic growth.
From providing a full range of essential services, bringing better income opportunities to partners to expanding the network to new regions, Grab is continuing its success story in Vietnam, affirming its position as a leading "super app". Grab's journey in Vietnam is not only a success story for a technology enterprise, but also a testament to the companionship with the country's development, bringing sustainable values to the community and contributing to promoting Vietnam's digital economy.
