As Lao Dong has informed, from July 1 to December 31, 2025, Vinh International Airport will temporarily suspend exploitation to serve the construction of 3 upgrade projects with a total investment of nearly 1,000 billion VND. Airlines have announced plans to adjust flight schedules and support affected passengers.
On June 24, Vietjet Air announced that it will temporarily suspend all flights to and from Vinh airport during the above-mentioned period. Passengers with flight tickets during this period are supported to change to free flights before July 1, or switch to the nearest flights to Thanh Hoa (Tho Xuan airport), Hanoi (Noi Bai airport), Quang Binh (Dong Hoi airport). In addition, customers can choose to refund tickets as ID reserves for later use.
The airline also said it will increase the frequency of flights to neighboring airports to meet the travel needs of people and tourists. Vietjet recommends that customers proactively contact the switchboard, ticket office, agent or airline representative at the airport for early support.
Previously, Vietnam Airlines also announced similar adjustments, while increasing flights to neighboring airports to maintain regional connectivity. The airline representative said that affected passengers will be supported to change their itinerary or return tickets for free upon request.
According to Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), the upgraded items at Vinh airport include expanding the passenger terminal, runway and aircraft parking lot. Expected to be completed before December 30, 2025.
The temporary closure of Vinh airport during the peak summer tourism season has affected travel activities of tourists, people in Nghe An and the North Central region. Many travel agencies have proactively adjusted transportation plans, prioritizing nearby airports such as Tho Xuan and Dong Hoi to continue exploiting regional tours.
