According to information from the Department of Technology, Digital Transformation and Automation (Tax Department), the entire electronic tax system nationwide has officially resumed operation since 8:00 a.m. on March 17, 2025, after a temporary suspension for upgrading.
Previously, the electronic tax system was temporarily suspended from 5:00 p.m. on March 12 to 8:00 a.m. on March 17, 2025 to temporarily suspend electronic tax systems for upgrading and conversion according to the general plan of the Government and the Ministry of Finance after the time of restructuring and restructuring the state apparatus. Accordingly, currently, the organizational structure of the Tax Department implements the model of 20 Regional Tax Departments and 350 District-level Tax Teams (replacing the 63 Tax Departments and previously affiliated Tax Departments).
Previously, Director of the Tax Department Mai Xuan Thanh directed units in the entire Tax sector to pay special attention to data conversion and tax management applications to ensure absolute safety, determined that immediately after converting, operations will be deployed smoothly to serve people and businesses conducting transactions in the electronic tax environment.
The return of the electronic tax system to work as planned is expected to actively support administrative reform, promote digital transformation in the financial - tax sector, and at the same time create favorable conditions for taxpayers to fulfill their financial obligations quickly and transparently in the digital environment.
