The Ministry of Finance has just informed about the implementation of an automatic personal income tax (PIT) refund process, applied from 2025 according to Decision No. 108/QD-TCT dated January 24, 2025 of the General Department of Taxation. This system will help shorten the time for processing documents, minimize errors and increase transparency in tax refunds.
Integrating technology, reducing manual records
According to the Ministry of Finance, the function "Suggested personal income tax declaration" has been built on electronic Tax applications such as eTax Mobile, iCanhan. The system will automatically synthesize data from the income payment organization, tax registration information and tax obligations, then pre-fill it in the taxpayer's settlement statement.
People only need to check the information again, adjust if necessary, add supporting documents and submit documents online. If there is a correction, the system will require an explanation of the difference to ensure accurate data.
Shortening time, support taxpayers
The Ministry of Finance affirmed that this new process will reduce pressure on both taxpayers and tax authorities, limit errors in settlement declarations, and help process tax refund records more quickly.
The Tax Department encourages people to install and use eTax Mobile or iCanhan to facilitate the declaration and timely refund of taxes. At the same time, income-paying organizations need to make transparent declarations, avoiding false declarations or using invalid personal information.
Currently, the Tax Department is upgrading the IT system to soon deploy this process in the 2024 tax settlement period. The Ministry of Finance will also continue to receive feedback from people to improve the system, making personal income tax refunds more convenient.
