In the afternoon of April 9, Mr. Pham Van Nghiem - Vice Chairman of Hung Yen Provincial People's Committee - received and worked with a delegation of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) led by Mr. Shibata Takumi - Chief Advisor of the project "Supporting job information connection for Vietnamese workers going to work abroad under contract".
The working session focused on exchanging views on cooperation in the fields of labor, employment and human resource development.
At the working session, Mr. Pham Van Nghiem gave an overview of the socio-economic development situation of the province, emphasizing the advantages of population size, young and abundant labor force, and orienting towards promoting international cooperation in training and supplying high-quality labor.
The whole province currently has about 1.7 million workers, of which an average of nearly 7,000 workers go to work abroad each year. Out of a total of 23,000 workers working abroad, the Japanese market accounts for nearly 40%.

Mr. Pham Van Nghiem affirmed that Japan is a top important partner of the province, and Hung Yen workers are highly appreciated for their diligence, sense of responsibility and adaptability.
Mr. Shibata Takumi introduced the JICA project in coordination with the Department of Overseas Labor Management to implement, aiming to build a transparent job information system, helping workers directly access recruitment information, reduce intermediaries and improve efficiency and safety in sending workers to work abroad.
JICA representatives expressed their desire to strengthen cooperation with Hung Yen province, especially in propaganda, connection and support for workers to use the system.
The two sides exchanged views on the current situation of labor resources, recruitment needs of the Japanese market, and discussed solutions to improve the quality of vocational training, foreign languages and skills.
Mr. Pham Van Nghiem emphasized that developing high-quality human resources is a strategic breakthrough of the province, international labor cooperation contributes to solving employment, improving income and absorbing advanced science and technology.
Mr. Pham Van Nghiem highly appreciated JICA's initiative, proposing to continue to support improving skills, legal and cultural knowledge for workers; build high-quality training programs; strengthen the connection between Japanese businesses and training institutions and Employment Service Centers.
The Provincial People's Committee is committed to creating favorable conditions for cooperation programs to be implemented effectively. Assigning the Department of Home Affairs as the focal point to coordinate with departments, branches, and localities to promote propaganda and guide workers to use the job information system effectively.
