In recent years, Toan Son commune has become a famous peach growing area of Da Bac district with more than 15 large-scale gardens of over 5 hectares. According to the review, the whole commune currently has about 4,000 - 5,000 peach trees of all kinds.
According to Lao Dong Newspaper, on the days leading up to Lunar New Year 2025, gardens are filled with the pink color of peach blossoms. Vehicles are bustling in and out, buyers from everywhere come to admire and choose beautiful peach trees.
At Thanh Tu peach garden (Truc Son hamlet, Toan Son commune, Da Bac district) with more than 100 ancient peach trees, the atmosphere is bustling with traders buying and people visiting, choosing peach trees to display on Tet. According to gardeners, this year's peach blossoms are more beautiful due to favorable and warm weather at the end of the year.
With more than 10 years of experience growing peach trees, Mr. Tran Thien Tu (owner of Thanh Tu peach garden) said that to have a beautiful peach tree, care is very important. Caring for the tree and stripping leaves is one of the most decisive steps to make the peach blossom at the right time.
According to Mr. Tu, about 2 months before Tet, depending on the size of the flower buds and the weather conditions, the leaves should be plucked so that the tree can concentrate its nutrients on the flowers. The most ideal conditions for peach trees to develop and bloom in time for the new year are around 15-20 degrees Celsius.
“Compared to previous years, the price this year is stable at 3-5 million VND/tree. There are old peach trees that cost up to 40 million VND. After deducting all expenses, the income from selling and renting peach trees for Tet is about 300 million VND/year,” said Mr. Tu.
According to Mr. Tu, gardeners have proactively researched and grasped consumer trends and preferences to provide the market with the most beautiful peach trees. At the same time, they have focused on shaping each tree to harmonize with the living space or office. This has attracted many people in the area and neighboring areas to come and choose to buy their favorite peach trees to celebrate Tet.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Bui Khac Vinh - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Da Bac district, said: "With suitable climate and soil conditions, Da Bac district has great potential to develop peach cultivation. In the first years of favorable output, peach cultivation has brought high income to people, with large-scale gardens and diverse products, earning several hundred million VND each Tet holiday."
According to Mr. Vinh, peach growing is gradually becoming a key economic model, helping households improve their quality of life, and giving people a warm and full spring with their families.
