More deductions help increase tax-free income, increase current income tax deductions
Decree 253/2026/ND-CP supplements the deductions for medical expenses (maximum 23 million VND/year) and education - training (maximum 24 million VND/year) when calculating personal income tax. Thanks to that, people with 1 dependent and an income of about 28 million VND/month, after fully applying the deductions, still do not have to pay tax; only from about 28.63 million VND/month a tax obligation arises.
Many workers assess that the new policy will reduce financial pressure on families with young children. However, some opinions suggest that the deduction level for health and education costs is still low compared to reality. Experts also proposed raising the deduction level, especially for education costs, to better suit the current spending level.
The Decree also raises the threshold for current income to be deducted 10% of personal income tax from 2 million VND to 5 million VND/payment for people who do not sign labor contracts or contracts of less than 3 months. According to the Ministry of Finance, the new regulation helps reduce the number of cases of tax deduction for small incomes and is more suitable for current economic conditions. See more...

Straw mushrooms 80,000 VND/kg, farmers are still concerned
The price of straw mushrooms in Can Tho is currently maintained at a high level, about 80,000 VND/kg for type 1 sold to traders. However, many farmers said that profits are not commensurate because yield has decreased sharply by 30-40% in recent years due to erratic weather, making mushroom farming increasingly precarious.

Besides the impact of climate, mushroom growers also face increased input costs and a shortage of raw straw due to changes in rice harvesting methods. Just prolonged rain, hot weather or large temperature differences, the whole mushroom crop can fail, causing many households not to have enough to compensate for production costs.
Despite facing many difficulties, farmers are still determined to stick with the profession because this is an important livelihood, and also contributes to taking advantage of agricultural by-products and reducing straw burning. See more...
