Kon Tum proposes to implement many renewable energy projects

Kon Tum Many proposed renewable energy projects will help Kon Tum increase budget revenue, exploit potential and advantages.

On June 10, Mr. Le Ngoc Tuan - Chairman of Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee requested departments and branches to urgently add projects to attract investment in the planning and list for proposal implementation.

Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to review the conditions for implementing the Sac Ly - Kon Tum power project, phase 1. This is a large-scale wind power project, located in a high mountainous area, in the historical site of Sac Ly, Sa Thay district.

Sac Ly Hill has a large wind speed, suitable for organizing adventure sports such as paragliding, mountain climbing, running; it can exploit the potential for continuous hours of sunshine for renewable energy.

In addition to this project, the provincial Department of Industry and Trade has also submitted proposals for a series of other hydropower projects such as: Dak Ruoi 2 Dak Ruoi 3, Nuoc Tre, Dak Glei, Nuoc Dao, Ta Au...

After the energy projects are approved by competent authorities for investment policies, the authorities will promptly complete the procedures and organize bidding to select investors in accordance with regulations.

Kon Tum has steep terrain, many rivers and streams, so it possesses great potential for renewable energy with 82 locations planned for hydropower projects.

The province also has the potential for more than 4,800 MW of wind power, of which 153.5 MW has been invested in, and more than 4,661 MW is waiting to be evaluated and researched for exploitation.

Kon Tum is also one of the provinces with the most hydropower projects in the country, with 30 projects completed and in operation, with a total capacity of 348 MW; 12 projects under construction and 2 projects under implementation in phase 2, with a total capacity of over 180 MW.
