Hoping to have a job right at home
At the beginning of May, the area implementing the Thong Nhat 1 Industrial Cluster technical infrastructure investment, construction and business project in Gia Phu commune became bustling when machinery and manpower began to gather and prepare for construction.
On an area of nearly 75ha that has completed site clearance, a new production space is gradually forming in the land that is mainly associated with agriculture.

According to reporters' records, what makes many people excited is not only the impending infrastructure appearance but also the hope for stable jobs right in the locality.
For many years, many young workers in Gia Phu commune and neighboring localities have had to go to Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, Hanoi or to the southern provinces to work as workers to earn income.
Mr. Dien Van Binh, residing in Chang village, said that his family was recovered about 1.5 hectares of various types of land to serve the project. Despite many changes in livelihoods, the family still agreed with the local policy of industrial development.
People basically responded to the general policy. We also hope that functional agencies will continue to have reasonable support policies so that people can soon stabilize their lives," Mr. Binh shared.

Many households in surrounding communes and wards believe that the appearance of the industrial cluster will open up more opportunities for developing services, trading, transportation and boarding houses, thereby creating additional income for people.
Meanwhile, Mr. Hoang Van Tung, a young worker residing in Cam Duong ward, said that he has been working as a worker in Bac Ninh for many years because the locality lacks suitable jobs.
Working far away also has income, but the cost of living is high, and I only get to go home once in a while. If the industrial cluster goes into operation later and there is a stable recruitment factory, I want to return to work closer to my family. Many friends of the same age are also waiting for job opportunities in Lao Cai," Mr. Tung said.
Prioritizing local labor recruitment
According to the plan, Thong Nhat 1 Industrial Cluster is oriented to attract the processing industries of agricultural and forestry products, food, pharmaceuticals; furniture and wood furniture production; mechanics, electronics, refrigeration, garment and supporting industries. These are all fields that use a lot of labor, suitable for the job needs of local people.
Mr. Ngo Hanh Phuc - Standing Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee - assessed that the project is not only an industrial infrastructure project but also the starting point for the province's green and sustainable industrial - logistics ecosystem.

According to the Standing Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, the completion of 100% of site clearance work before commencement shows the great determination of the locality in accompanying businesses, creating conditions for the project to be implemented on schedule and put into operation soon.
The project has a total investment of about 860 billion VND, oriented to develop according to the green industry model, circular economy and ESG standards.
The investor reserves about 13% of the area for green trees, and at the same time invests in synchronous wastewater treatment systems, water supply and electricity infrastructure to meet the requirements of modern manufacturing enterprises.
Mr. Pham Quoc Viet - General Director of Lao Cai Industrial Development Investment Joint Stock Company - said that the enterprise will implement the project according to the committed schedule, focusing on completing technical infrastructure to soon put the industrial cluster into operation.
We are committed to prioritizing training and recruiting local workers, contributing to creating jobs, improving income and shifting labor structure. At the same time, we will attract quality investors, prioritizing clean industry, high technology and high added value in accordance with the development orientation of Lao Cai province," Mr. Pham Quoc Viet affirmed.

According to the plan, Thong Nhat 1 Industrial Cluster will go into operation from the first quarter of 2027.
With the expectation of creating jobs for thousands of workers, the project is considered one of the new driving forces to promote industrial development and retain young workers in the locality.
