After a period of localized increases at some banks, deposit interest rates are showing signs of cooling down again as many banks simultaneously adjusted down in the last days of May.
Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Sacombank) has adjusted deposit interest rates for the third time in May, after one increase and one previous decrease. According to the new interest rate schedule, the bank reduces 0.1-0.3 percentage points/year for many deposit products, including traditional savings, online savings and special savings programs.
Previously, Vietnam Modern One Member Limited Liability Bank (MBV) simultaneously reduced the online deposit interest rate by 0.2 percentage points/year for a term of 6-36 months, bringing the highest interest rate to 7%/year. ACB also recorded one of the strongest adjustments in the medium and long-term term group when the 6-month term interest rate decreased from 7.1%/year to 4.9%/year, and the 12-month term decreased from 7.3%/year to 5.7%/year.
In addition, LPBank reduced deposit interest rates by 0.1 percentage points for some terms; MB reduced by 0.1-0.2 percentage points for long terms; OCB reduced by 0.2 percentage points for some terms after having previously increased interest rates.
