In mid-June, along the routes to Huu Nghi, Tan Thanh, and Chi Ma international border gates, groups of container trucks carrying seaweed and fruit from Bac Giang, Hai Duong, and Hung Yen lined up waiting for customs clearance.
This year, the output of seaweed in Luc Ngan district and Chu town (Bac Giang province) is expected to reach about 108,000 tons, of which Luc Ngan alone accounts for more than 65,000 tons. With the goal of exporting 70% of total output, most of the seaweed will be exported through the border gates of Lang Son province.
Since the end of May, Lang Son has proactively developed a traffic diversion plan, arranging a separate area to receive fabric vehicles with a capacity of about 200 vehicles/day, and activating the green flow mechanism, giving absolute priority to this item.
Mr. Nong Quang Hung - Deputy Captain of Tan Thanh Customs - said: "The plant quarantine force has increased manpower, directly collected samples and checked the vehicle. Border gates such as Tan Thanh are fully equipped with infrastructure to receive and process documents on the same day, not allowing fabric vehicles to survive".
Previously, an interdisciplinary meeting was held in Tan Thanh with the participation of the Customs, Border Guard, Plant Quarantine and Border Gate Management Center, to specify the direction of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment. The unified process ensures speed, no congestion and maintains the quality of agricultural products.
Mr. Trinh Van Phan - Head of Tan Thanh Plant Quarantine Station - affirmed: "We always prioritize seaweed - a high-value item. All documents are received and processed on the spot. Do not let inventories affect the quality of the fruit when transferred to partners".
In addition, Lang Son province also proactively held talks with China to agree on expanding customs clearance hours, extending working hours to 8:00 p.m. each day to increase the efficiency of handling cargo vehicles during the peak crop season.
According to Mr. Hoang Khanh Duy, Deputy Head of the Dong Dang - Lang Son Export Processing Zone Management Board, businesses and localities need to focus on net export, signing transparent contracts, ensuring traceability, growing area codes, food hygiene and safety to avoid risks and maintain market reputation.
Thanks to the synchronous efforts of both the government and enterprises exporting seaweed this year, it is expected to reach a new record in output, customs clearance time and economic value.
