Lao Cai - The province will establish a Steering Committee to combat tax revenue loss in the fields of tourism, services, e-commerce and digital platform business.

On August 12, information from the People's Committee of Lao Cai province said that Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tuan Anh has just signed and issued Directive No. 12 on strengthening revenue management and combating budget revenue loss in the fields of tourism, services, e-commerce and digital platform business.

According to the People's Committee of Lao Cai province, tourism, services and e-commerce in the area continue to develop, leading to an increase in booking, transportation, service provision, and trading of goods on e-commerce platforms, social networks and digital platforms.

However, tax management work still has some limitations. Some organizations, households and individual businesses have not registered for business, registered for tax or fully declared tax obligations.

Revenue declared in some cases is not consistent with the actual scale; the use of electronic invoices, electronic invoices initiated from cash registers is not strict.

To combat revenue loss, the Provincial People's Committee requests to strengthen connectivity, share and exploit data between tax authorities and departments, branches, and localities.

Data on businesses, business households, accommodation establishments, passenger volume, transportation, payment and e-commerce will be used to review, assess risks, and identify revenue sources at risk of being missed.

Notably, Lao Cai will establish a Steering Committee to combat budget revenue loss in the fields of tourism, services, e-commerce and digital platform business.

Lao Cai Provincial Tax Department is assigned to preside over advising on the establishment of a Steering Committee and building a Project to strengthen budget revenue loss prevention in these fields.

The tax authority will review and standardize taxpayer data; compare information on business registration, business households, accommodation establishments, passenger volume, transportation and e-commerce. At the same time, strengthen the inspection of declared revenue, manage electronic invoices and handle cases with signs of violations.

People's Committees of communes and wards are required to proactively review accommodation establishments, restaurants, eateries, homestays, transportation and business activities on digital platforms.

When detecting a difference between the actual scale of operation and the declared information or signs of household or individual business omissions, information must be promptly transferred to the tax authority for handling.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested agencies, units, and localities to strictly implement the Directive, ensure full management of revenue sources, collect correctly, fully, and promptly, and create an equal and transparent business environment in the area.
