Note on payment levels and deadlines for paying business license tax in 2024

The deadline for paying business license tax in 2024 is approaching. Businesses and business households need to clearly understand the tax rates and deadlines to avoid being penalized for late payment.

Business license tax payment level in 2024

According to Decree 139/2016/ND-CP (amended by Decree 22/2020/ND-CP), the applicable business license fee rates are as follows:

For organizations trading goods and services:

Organizations with charter capital or investment capital of over 10 billion VND: 3 million VND/year.

Organizations with charter capital or investment capital of 10 billion VND or less: 2 million VND/year.

Branches, representative offices, business locations, public service units, other economic organizations: 1 million VND/year.

The amount of tax is determined based on the charter capital stated in the business registration certificate or the investment capital stated in the investment registration certificate. If the capital is in foreign currency, it will be converted into Vietnamese currency at the buying rate of the bank where the taxpayer opens an account.

For individuals and businesses:

Revenue of over VND 500 million/year: VND 1 million/year.

Revenue from 300 to 500 million VND/year: 500,000 VND/year.

Revenue from 100 to 300 million VND/year: 300,000 VND/year.

In case a business household or individual resumes operations after a temporary suspension:

Operating in the first 6 months of the year: Pay the full year fee.

Operating in the last 6 months of the year: Pay 50% of the annual fee.

Deadline for paying business license tax in 2024

Pursuant to Clause 9, Article 18 of Decree 126/2020/ND-CP, the deadline for paying business license fees in 2024 is no later than January 30, 2024.

For small and medium enterprises converting from business households:

End of the period of exemption from business license fees in the first 6 months of the year: Submit no later than July 30 of the year the exemption period ends.

Ending in the last 6 months of the year: Submit no later than January 30 of the following year.

Business households and individuals resuming operations:

Operating in the first 6 months of the year: Submit no later than July 30 of the year of re-operation.

Activities in the last 6 months of the year: Submit no later than January 30 of the following year.

Deadline for submitting business license fee declaration form 2024

According to Decree 126/2020/ND-CP, taxpayers (except business households and business individuals) must submit business license fee declarations no later than January 30 of the year following the year of establishment or commencement of business operations.

For business households and individual businesses, the tax authority will determine and notify the amount payable.
