Mang Den is an attractive tourist destination of Quang Ngai province. Surrounded by natural forests, three-leaf pine forests and ideal height above sea level, this place possesses a mild climate and a characteristic ecosystem.
People and tourists love Mang Den for the tranquility, freshness, and spaciousness of nature; it has not been excessively concreted and commercialized. Mang Den still retains its pristine beauty, and is less affected by humans and urban structures.
In the holidays of April 30 and May 1 alone, Mang Den attracted more than 65,000 visitors, the most in Quang Ngai province, surpassing other destinations such as Sa Huynh, Ly Son, Binh Son or Kon Tum. In 2025, Mang Den reached nearly 2 million tourist arrivals.
Grasping the local advantages, the commune government regularly launches afforestation movements, increasing the green coverage to create more attraction for this destination.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan, owner of a accommodation establishment in Mang Den, said: "Every year, the commune, together with the business community and people, grows Sakura cherry blossoms in central villages, main roads, public areas and concentrated residential areas. Every spring, cherry blossoms bloom brightly all over the roads to welcome guests.
Around Mang Den are mainly natural forests, strictly protected by the Regional Forest Protection Department and local authorities.
At the end of April 2026, the People's Council of Quang Ngai province voted to approve a resolution on the policy of converting forest use purposes to other purposes to implement the Urban Area No. 1 project in Mang Den commune.
The total area of production forest that needs to be converted is 82.88ha. The billion-dollar project investor also committed to local authorities and the province to plant replacement forests, while protecting the environment and landscape throughout the construction process.
Mountains and forests will be built into thousand-people urban areas
Mr. Nguyen Van Thang - Chairman of Mang Den Commune People's Committee - said that specialized agencies are focusing on site clearance, negotiation, and compensation to soon hand over land to investors to implement the urban area project.
In Mang Den, the Urban Area No. 1 project invested by Sun World Group Co., Ltd. is expected to be implemented in the near future.
The total investment of the project (excluding compensation and resettlement support costs) is about 6,647 billion VND. Project implementation progress from 2025 to 2034.
According to a report by the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province, the goal of the project is to form a comprehensive sports and health care urban area; build a cultural valley, combining a variety of housing types, service works, resort tourism, tourist and commercial accommodation facilities. The expected population scale is about 7,738 people.
The forest area approved by Quang Ngai province for conversion to implement the project is 82.88ha.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Sam - Vice Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee - requested departments, branches and Mang Den commune to soon remove difficulties in surveying, inventorying, verifying the origin of land as well as the compensation implementation mechanism. These are key projects that the province is particularly interested in and needs to focus on drastic implementation to ensure the set progress.
It is known that the urban area projects No. 1, 4 and 5 in Mang Den commune have a total scale of nearly 790ha, with a total investment of nearly 27,000 billion VND.
