Raise awareness, increase income
According to a report by the Department of Agriculture and Environment (NNMT) of Can Tho City, in 2025, the fruit tree growing area in the area is about 100,000 hectares, with a harvested output of more than 1.2 million tons, exceeding 7.14% of the plan, an increase of 15.69% compared to the same period.
To achieve the above results, one of the advantages identified by the Ho Chi Minh City Agriculture sector is that the application of science and technology and production in a safe and environmentally friendly direction is increasingly concerned by many people. The maintenance and development of planting area codes (MSVT) is ensured with increasingly increased area.

At Trang Ti Garden Cooperative (Thoi Hung commune, Can Tho city), the green, clean, and safe production process is strictly followed by cooperative members. Over the years, the cooperative's longan fruit has increasingly increased in value according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP certifications.
Mr. Tran Phuoc Son - Director of Trang Ti Garden Cooperative - said that the certificates not only show positive changes in the production awareness of cooperative members but also prove that the cooperative's longan fruit is striving to meet the strict needs of importing countries. Thereby, helping agricultural products to be consumed at better prices, bringing stable income to farmers.

Mr. Tran Van Thanh - a member of Truong Khuong A Fruit Garden Cooperative (Truong Long commune, Can Tho city) - shared that since MSVT was established, linking consumption with export businesses, his and other cooperative members' star apples have been consumed higher than the domestic market by 15,000 - 20,000 VND/kg.
In addition to MSVT, produced according to VietGAP standards, forge-fired star apples and pink butter of the Cooperative also achieved OCOP 4 stars. This is the effort of all members to build a brand, enhance prestige, and expand the export route for the Cooperative's products," Mr. Thanh said.
According to Ms. Pham Thi Minh Hieu - Head of the Sub-Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Can Tho City), in the past time, the sector has recorded positive signals in farmers' production awareness. In particular, people are increasingly interested in MSVT and production techniques issues.
Brand development
Although there are many noteworthy points, the city's agricultural sector also recognizes that in the past year, the city has encountered some difficulties in issuing MSVT, updating databases, and monitoring codes due to unified MSVT issuance procedures, unified databases between management departments, increasingly increasing monitoring codes, and wide areas.

On that basis, in 2026, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Can Tho City set out many key tasks and solutions. In which, flexibly using rice land to switch to developing valuable fruit trees, developing agricultural value chains associated with agricultural tourism types. Promoting high-tech agricultural production, smart agriculture, circular agriculture, environmentally friendly and adapting to climate change.
The industry will focus on developing large-scale, high-quality specialized commodity production areas associated with cooperation, production linkage, and value chain development; building MSVT associated with geographical indication, traceability, and brand development.
At the same time, promote the production and use of biological pesticides; linkage models, using economical and efficient organic fertilizers; using beneficial organisms on key crops to improve the value of agricultural products, protect human health and the ecological environment.
