The State Bank appoints a new Chief Inspector

On March 6, 2025, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) held a ceremony to announce the decision to appoint Mr. Lai Huu Phuoc as Chief Inspector of the SBV according to the Governor's decision.

The ceremony was attended by SBV Deputy Governor Pham Quang Dung, representatives of the SBV Party Committee, the Department of Organization and Personnel, along with leaders of the Department of Credit Institution Management and Supervision (CIs), the Department of CIs Safety and Personnel Inspectorate.

Authorized by the Governor of the State Bank, Deputy Governor Pham Quang Dung presented the appointment decision and congratulated Mr. Lai Huu Phuoc. Mr. Dung emphasized that this is a high trust from the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the State Bank in Mr. Phuoc.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Governor Pham Quang Dung emphasized the important role of the State Bank Inspectorate in ensuring transparency and discipline in the banking industry. He said that with the current scale of the credit institution system up to more than 23 million billion VND in total assets, inspection work places high requirements for responsibility and supervisory capacity.

The Deputy Governor expressed his hope that Mr. Lai Huu Phuoc, in his new position, will promote his experience, bravery and sense of responsibility, together with the State Bank Inspectorate to improve operational efficiency and perform well the assigned tasks.

Speaking at the ceremony to accept the assignment, Mr. Lai Huu Phuoc expressed his gratitude to the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the SBV for entrusting him with the important responsibility. He said that this is an honor but also a great responsibility, committing to do his best to complete the task well, continue to practice, improve professional capacity and closely coordinate with units in the SBV.

Born in 1967, hometown in Thanh Binh commune, Thanh Liem district, Ha Nam province.

Graduated from Hanoi University of Finance and Accounting (now the Academy of Finance) with a major in 1987-1991.

From 1992-1995: Working at state-owned enterprises.

From 1995 2010: Working at the State Audit, he has held the positions of Deputy Head of the Department, Head of the State Audit Department, Sector VII.

From 2010-2024: Working at the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank), holding the positions of Head of Internal Audit Department, Head of Internal Inspection Board, Head of Control Board.

From August 2024 to present: Working at the SBV, holding the position of Deputy Chief Inspector, Acting Chief Inspector and was officially appointed as Chief Inspector of the SBV on March 6, 2025.

The appointment ceremony took place solemnly with the participation of many delegates and leaders of units in the SBV system.
