At fishing ports in Lam Dong province, seafood exploitation and consumption activities are still bustling.
On March 29, recorded at Phan Thiet Fishing Port, fishing boats continuously docked at the port, unloading goods after many days of sticking to the sea. Seafood is brought ashore and purchased by warehouses, ensuring freshness and commercial value.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hung - Chairman of the fishing boat said that fluctuating fuel prices have increased the cost of each sea trip. However, thanks to catching a fishing trip, this trip, after deducting expenses, the boat still made a profit of more than 100 million VND to share with its crew members.
Reality shows that, despite fluctuating input costs, many fishermen still maintain exploitation activities thanks to changes in production organization.
Instead of continuously returning to shore after short trips, fishing boats currently tend to extend their operating time at sea, maximizing fishing time in the fishing grounds.

Many fishermen are still considering the risk of losing capital before going offshore. However, for many fishermen, going offshore fishing is still the main source of livelihood for both families and crew members, so they are forced to find ways to adapt.
One of the solutions chosen by many fishermen is to extend the time staying at sea.
Mr. Vo Ngoc Ba - owner of a purse seine fishing vessel said that previously each sea trip only lasted about 2-3 days, then the vessel came ashore to sell fish, refuel and then continue to go to sea. Now due to fluctuating fuel prices, the vessel has to go ashore once every 5-7 days to reduce fuel costs.
“With this method, fuel costs are significantly reduced, while ensuring jobs and fishing output, increasing income for crew members. Crew members also agree with this solution,” Mr. Ba said.

In parallel with extending sea trips, the model of linking with logistics service ships at sea is showing clear effectiveness.
Instead of returning to port after each short fishing trip, many fishing boats proactively sell seafood directly to purchasing boats right at sea, and at the same time receive fuel and necessities to continue sticking to the fishing grounds.
Reorganizing the exploitation method in this direction helps significantly reduce operating costs.

Mr. Huynh Thanh Quoc Viet - Chairman of Phuoc Hoi Ward People's Committee (locality with La Gi fishing port) said that the locality is strengthening the mobilization of fishermen to recalculate production methods, the number of workers and exploitation time to save fuel.
In particular, encourage fishermen to stick to the sea for many days, combined with logistics service vessels to consume seafood and refuel right at sea.
Reality shows that fuel costs for the journey from shore to fishing grounds and vice versa account for a large proportion of the total cost of each sea trip.
Therefore, reducing the number of trips, extending the continuous operating time and taking advantage of the logistics vessel system has helped many ship owners balance costs and maintain production.
According to statistics, in the first quarter of 2026, the seafood output harvested by fishermen in Lam Dong province is estimated at over 53,500 tons, an increase of 4.4% compared to the same period. Favorable weather and stable fishing grounds are creating conditions for fishermen to continue going offshore and sticking to the sea for production.
