Entering the spacious, fully furnished house of Mr. Danh Kha (born in 1975), residing in Thu Ba town, An Bien district (Kien Giang), everyone admires him because he had previously gone through many difficulties and hardships to have the property he has today.
Mr. Kha said that after getting married, he and his wife were very enthusiastic about business. With an area of over 1,000 square meters, he planted various crops such as bitter melon, cucumbers or yardlong beans...
The profits from growing crops help Mr. Kha cover his daily expenses, while the income from growing rice is saved to buy more land for production. Thanks to his diligence, hard work, active learning, innovation, and creativity throughout the agricultural production process, Mr. Kha has risen to become rich.
Working, saving and spending wisely, after about 15 years of production, the couple now owns more than 100 hectares of rice fields, with an average total income from growing rice, raising shrimp and crops of nearly 1 billion VND/year.
Mr. Kha said that in 2018, when the local government implemented the policy of shifting from rice monoculture to one-crop shrimp-one-crop rice cultivation, he was still quite confused. However, with the desire to become rich, he tried his best to research and learn about production techniques, visit effective production models in other provinces, and participate in agricultural extension training courses to gain more knowledge.
"After studying, I also boldly switched from growing two rice crops to producing one rice crop and one shrimp crop. I am also very happy because I do it smoothly, have a high income, and increase profits to develop the family economy. The profits from growing rice and raising shrimp helped me buy more adjacent land, helping the family economy to continuously develop," Mr. Kha confided.
Not only is he an example of rising to become rich in his homeland, Mr. Kha also makes many people admire him for his sharing heart. Every year, his family sets aside a portion of their money to contribute to social security activities, building new rural areas and civilized urban areas in the locality.
With many years of achievements as a good farmer and businessman at the district and provincial levels, Mr. Danh Kha also actively mobilizes and shares his production experience with the Khmer people to increase production and develop the economy.
Mr. Le Kim Quyen - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Thu Ba town - said: At the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities of An Bien district in 2024, Mr. Danh Kha was commended for his outstanding achievements in carrying out ethnic work and national solidarity in the period of 2019-2024.
“Mr. Danh Kha’s diligence and determination to overcome difficulties and become rich is a typical example in the Khmer ethnic minority region. Not only does he enrich himself, Mr. Kha also contributes to social activities and funds… Mr. Kha is a motivation and a shining example for farmers in the area to learn from,” Mr. Quyen shared.
