Dawicki - Chairman, Director of the Northeast American Maritime Research Institute (USA) - to listen to and give opinions on the deployment of investment in Con Ong - Hon Net port.
According to the overall plan for the development of Vietnam's seaport system, the Con Ong - Hon Net port area, Cam Pha, is identified as a group 1 seaport with many outstanding advantages with a natural depth of about -9.1m, less affected by large waves due to being located in Bai Tu Long Bay and less sagged, favorable for loading and unloading and transshipment of goods.
In the development strategy, Quang Ninh identifies the marine economy as one of the important driving forces to promote sustainable growth and improve the competitiveness of the economy. In which, Con Ong - Hon Net port is a driving force, prioritizing investment and implementation according to the PPP cooperation model to gradually build a multi-sector marine economic ecosystem towards green, modern and sustainable growth.
Over the past time, Quang Ninh province has prioritized resources, promoted the advantage of location when deploying highways connecting ports with airports, international border gates and economic and industrial centers of the entire Northern region; planned railways connecting to ports to improve road transport capacity...
At the meeting, based on provincial planning and planning of Vietnam's seaport system, departments, sectors and the Northeast American Maritime Research Institute assessed and analyzed the potentials and advantages and proposed investment attraction and preparation for Con Ong - Hon Net port in the form of PPP. Mr. Eric R. Dawicki - Chairman, Director of the Northeast American Maritime Research Institute - proposed to study investment in building Con Ong - Hon Net port to develop globally, becoming a synchronous, modern seaport of the leading level in Vietnam, an important gateway in trade between Vietnam and the United States.
Concluding the meeting, Mr. Bui Van Khang - Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee - requested departments, branches, and localities to closely coordinate with the Northeast American Maritime Research Institute to concretize, supplement, and continue to study ideas to deploy port construction investment.
It is necessary to clearly define the functions, objectives, scale, detailed zoning, functional works, land allocation funds... to serve as a basis for planning and selecting investment forms. In the process of implementing planning ideas, there needs to be a roadmap and specific progress; it is necessary to pay attention to carefully assessing the current status of the area, the current status of projects that have been and are being prepared for investment, supplementing connecting transport infrastructure. Regarding the proposal from the representative of the Northeast American Maritime Research Institute, Mr. Khang completely agreed and unanimously proposed that the Institute continue to study and soon implement investment policies for Con Ong - Hon Net port to develop globally, becoming a synchronous and modern seaport of the leading level in Vietnam.
Quang Ninh will continue to accompany investors, maximize administrative procedures, and complete infrastructure to ensure the most favorable conditions to promote port development, and actively coordinate with investors to study and soon deploy investment.
