On March 31, at Tra Vinh General Hospital, Vinh Long Provincial Department of Health coordinated with Angels Stroke Care Program to organize the Vinh Long Stroke Network Conference 2026. The event was attended by neurologists, leaders of departments, branches and representatives of many medical facilities in the province.
The conference focused on assessing the current situation and proposing solutions to develop a network for emergency and stroke treatment, aiming to improve the quality of patient care. Delegates emphasized the requirement to strengthen coordination between levels, ensuring quick and effective treatment during "golden hours".
At the conference, many presentations mentioned the implementation of the "Inter-hospital Red Alert" model, upgrading the 115 Emergency system to synchronously connect between provincial levels. The application of artificial intelligence such as RAPID software and digital tools was also proposed to support timely diagnosis and treatment, reduce mortality and disability among patients.

The overview report shows that in 2025, Vinh Long recorded more than 77,000 cases related to cerebral blood vessel disease, putting great pressure on the health system. Faced with this reality, the health sector determines that it is necessary to innovate the organizational model and improve specialized treatment capacity.
Dr. Ho Thi Thu Hang - Director of Vinh Long Department of Health said that in the period 2026 - 2027, the province orients the development of the network according to the "Axis and Nan Hoa" (HUB-and-SPOKE) model. In which, provincial-level hospitals play a central role, capable of endovascular intervention, connecting with satellite units at the grassroots level.
In addition, the health sector proposes to build a Stroke Map (GIS Stroke Map) to determine the optimal access radius, strengthen out-of-hospital emergency coordination according to regional scale. The goal is to help patients access treatment as quickly as possible, in the right place, at the right time, approaching international standards.
