The most prominent is Lien Chieu container port, a link expected to bring Da Nang deeper into the international logistics chain.
After the phase 1 shared infrastructure, costing more than 3,426 billion VND, was completed at the end of March 2026, the city continued to start the overall container wharf project with a total cost of about 45,268 billion VND. The Hateco - Hateco Seaport - APM Terminals B.V consortium invested in 8 container wharves on an area of about 172.6ha. At least two wharves are expected to be completed by the end of 2028; when completed, the port will have a capacity of about 5.7 million TEUs/year.
In early August, the City People's Council continued to approve the policy of investing more than 6, 209 billion VND to complete the remaining shared infrastructure. Da Nang identified Lien Chieu as a strategic lever, and at the same time requested the project to move towards the "green port - smart port" model.
Directly associated with Lien Chieu is Da Nang Free Trade Zone, an institutional - infrastructure project expected to create a competitive difference for the city. Three functional areas at positions No. 2, 3 and 4 have been awarded investment decisions, with a total area of about 910ha, total capital of more than 15,025 billion VND.
The city also promotes the "one-stop shop, on-site" mechanism, prepares land funds and applies BIM, GIS, Digital Twin in management.
If Lien Chieu is the gateway for goods, the free trade area is the space to retain more value from that flow of goods. Goods through the port can be connected to logistics, processing, distribution, trade and value-added services, instead of just passing through the city.
By early August 2026, the Vietnam International Finance Center in Da Nang has 12 official members, 11 investors approved for interest, 12 investors are completing dossiers and more than 90 domestic and foreign investors are exploring opportunities.
Meanwhile, the central area continues to strongly attract urban - tourism capital. Da Nang Downtown of Sun Group has a total capital of nearly 80,000 billion VND, with a scale of nearly 77ha; Lang Van of Vinpearl has a total capital of nearly 43,922 billion VND. These projects not only change the urban appearance but also add hotels, commerce, entertainment and new consumer spaces.
Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized that the investment policy must be transformed into works, works must be effective and people must benefit. That is also the biggest test for the new growth axis that Da Nang is building.
