According to information from the People's Committee of Soc Trang province, in the first 6 months of 2025, the province's socio-economic situation continued to maintain a positive development momentum in many fields. In the context of many challenges, the province has proactively and synchronously implemented key solutions to achieve the GRDP growth target of 8% or more.
In the agricultural sector, the whole province has planted 331,269 hectares of rice, an increase of 4.37% over the same period last year. The ratio of specialty, high-quality rice accounts for 94.91%, exceeding the set plan target. Currently, the whole province has 75/80 communes meeting the New Rural standards; 290 OCOP products are recognized.

The industrial production index grew impressively, reaching 8.5%, higher than the 3.34% in the same period in 2024. Many manufacturing industries recorded remarkable increases such as leather shoes increased by 160%, wind power increased by 103%, cement increased by 300%. Total retail sales of goods and consumer services reached about VND 63,090 billion, up 23.36% over the same period; retail sales of goods alone reached VND 39,940 billion, up 25.47%.
In terms of exports, the total turnover reached about 870 million USD. Of which, seafood accounted for the largest proportion with 490 million USD (up 6.71%), rice reached 320 million USD and garments reached 59 million USD.
The province welcomed about 1.91 million visitors, an increase of 10% over the same period, of which international visitors reached more than 20,000. Tourism revenue is estimated at VND 1,259 billion, up 36%.
Total state budget revenue in the area reached VND 3,502 billion, equal to 57.13% of the annual estimate and increasing by 7.1% over the same period last year. Regarding public investment, the total capital plan for 2025 is VND 9,625 billion, as of May 31, the disbursement rate of capital assigned by the Prime Minister reached 16.16%, additional capital reached 3.03% and long-term capital reached 20.97%.
The province has created jobs for about 14,500 workers, of which 175 are working abroad. The rate of trained workers reached 65.2%; those with degrees and certificates reached 32.5%. Unemployment insurance, salary, and labor safety policies have been fully implemented.
Soc Trang has also completed 100% of the target of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for policy families and poor ethnic minority households.
The Provincial Public Administration and Governance Efficiency Index (PAPI) reached 45.19 points, in the highest group, ranked 10/61 provinces and cities nationwide, ranked first among provinces in the Mekong Delta region.
In the first 6 months of 2025, the whole province received and processed 167,973 dossiers requesting settlement of administrative procedures. Of which, the number of online records received is 102,770, reaching a rate of 61.18% of the total number of records received. The whole province has issued 5,770 digital signatures to individuals and organizations serving the exchange of electronic documents in the online environment.
