According to the People's Committee of Soc Trang province, in the period of 2021 - 2025, the province has affirmed its high political determination and synchronous participation of the entire political system through two key emulation movements: "Soc Trang joins hands to build new rural areas" (NTM) and "Soc Trang joins hands for the poor - No one is left behind".
Gradually grasping the spirit of "Building socialism and poverty reduction is the responsibility of the whole society", Soc Trang province has proactively balanced local budgets, mobilized synthetic resources to resolutely and effectively implement the goals assigned by the National Assembly and the Government.
With a drastic, creative and flexible approach, Soc Trang province has completed all key targets of the two National Target Programs on New Rural Development and Sustainable Poverty Reduction one year ahead of schedule.
Accordingly, 75/80 communes in the whole province have been recognized as meeting the NTM standard, reaching 104% of the target assigned by the Central Government. Of which, 30 communes have met the advanced NTM standards and 3 communes have met the model NTM standards. 5 district-level units were recognized by the Prime Minister as meeting the standards/completion of the task of building new rural areas, achieving 100% of the target. The poverty rate in the whole province is currently only 1.32%, exceeding the set target of a reduction of less than 2%.
In addition to completing the core targets ahead of schedule, Soc Trang also focuses on implementing in-depth thematic programs. A typical example is the "OCOP" Program, which has so far had 288 products certified, exceeding the plan by 144. OCOP products contribute significantly to promoting the rural economy, developing typical products associated with tourism and increasing income for people.
The province also promotes model new rural areas, improving the material and spiritual quality of life for rural people, creating a foundation for sustainable and comprehensive development.
