Consecutive detection of ships carrying smuggled oil and cultural products in violation
From May 19 to June 15, 2025, the Anti-smuggling Investigation Department under the Customs Department deployed a peak month of attack and suppression of smuggling and illegal transportation of goods across the border.
The Anti-smuggling Investigation Department has synchronously deployed professional measures to control customs, enhancing data analysis for key items to screen businesses with signs of risk, and put them under strict control. At the same time, the Customs force coordinates with the Customs Branches of the Central region and functional agencies such as the Police, Border Guard, Coast Guard, Market Management to grasp, exchange information, verify the origin of goods, promptly detect, prevent and handle violations.
From May 19 to June 15, 2025, the Department has detected, arrested and handled 9 cases, including 2 cases chaired by the Customs and 7 cases of initial information transfer or inter-sectoral coordination. The core of the inspection and arrest activities is the Anti-smuggling Control Team No. 2 (Team 2).
On May 26, 2025, at coordinates 11°52'20'N, 109°12'03'E in the sea area of Khanh Hoa province, Team 2 coordinated with the 48th Border Guard Squadron and the Customs Control Team - Customs Branch of Region XIII to inspect the KH-0757 wooden ship driven by Mr. Nguyen Duc Dung (born on February 10, 1986). Through inspection, it was discovered that the ship was transporting about 20,000 liters of liquid suspected to be DO oil without invoices or documents proving its legality, with an estimated value of about 348 million VND.
Then, on May 28, 2025, at coordinates 11°17N, 109°02E in the sea area of Ninh Thuan province, Team 2 coordinated with the Crime Prevention Department - Coast Guard Region 3 Command to inspect the ship with license plate TH-91658-TS controlled by Mr. Huynh Thanh Phong (born July 19, 1978). The results of the discovery of about 75,000 liters of liquid suspected to be DO oil without invoices or documents proving its legality, with an estimated value of about 1.3 billion VND.
On June 10, 2025, Team 2 coordinated with the Da Nang Industrial Park Customs to inspect two items at the Central Transport and Logistics Center under the Post Transport and Logistics Company. The results of the discovery of a document with registration number LZ220990622CN (send from China to Vietnam) containing a carton containing a geopark, in which Vietnam's sea areas are shown as the South China Sea. The second vat has the number CM242668003US (send from the US) containing two books with many obscene images printed.
Transitional goods from China discovered to be counterfeit
From May 19 to June 15, 2025, Team 2 also proactively collected information, grasped the situation in the area, organized forces and coordinated with the Department of Information Collection and Processing and Online Monitoring together with Cha Lo International Border Gate Customs - Customs Branch of Region IX to inspect and seize six transit shipments from China to Laos through Cha Lo International Border Gate.
The infringing goods included 19,309 products of all kinds. The list of goods includes mobile phones, clothes, computer screens, glasses, tablet screens, phone cases, truck lights, LCD screens, computer speakers, electrocardiograms, headphones, phone charging cables, multi-purpose fans, handheld mini speakers, decorative ceilings, male belts, JBL loudspeaker wearables and PRADA handbags ( Milano).
Among these, there were two shipments of 130 PRADA handbags ( Milano) and 120 JBL speakers with signs of counterfeiting their trademarks, due to the attachment of PRado and JBL brands. There are 3,369 products that are consumer goods without customs declaration, hidden in containers. The Customs authority is continuing to search the related shipments to handle them according to regulations.
