On December 10, in Tinh Bien ward, the People's Committee of An Giang province coordinated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to organize a conference to summarize 5 years of the program to develop Vietnam's border trade infrastructure until 2025, with a vision to 2030. The event is part of the Vietnam - Cambodia Border Trade Connection Forum in An Giang.
Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Le Trung Ho emphasized: The conference is of great significance, an opportunity for leaders of ministries, branches, central and local governments and the business community to exchange and share information; shaping the development of border trade infrastructure in the coming time, as well as economic cooperation activities, especially promoting Vietnam - Cambodia border trade to reach further in the region and internationally.
In An Giang, border trade continues to be a bright spot and a strong driving force to support the production and business of enterprises. In the period of 2021 - 2025, the total import and export turnover of goods through the land border gates of An Giang - Cambodia increased by an average of 12.7% per year. Of which, the average annual export turnover of goods across the mainland border from An Giang to Cambodia reaches over 500 million USD.
On the contrary, the import turnover of goods across the border from Cambodia to the border of An Giang province reached over 600 million USD per year, with a two-way structure of goods that complement each other such as: raw materials, raw agricultural products for production, seafood, rice, consumer goods, fertilizers and many other items.
The province always focuses on promoting investment and developing a warehouse system at the border gate area. In the functional areas of the An Giang Border Gate Economic Zone, there are 8 enterprises operating gathering, inspection and supervision locations for export and import goods.

In recent years, the governments of the two countries have paid special attention to the development of the border economy. For An Giang, trade cooperation with Cambodia not only has economic significance but also contributes to strengthening border security and strengthening traditional solidarity and friendship between the people of the two countries. An Giang province, with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, is committed to always accompanying and creating the most favorable conditions for businesses to feel secure in investing and developing Vice Chairman of the Provincial Peoples Committee Le Trung Ho affirmed.
According to Mr. Tran Huu Linh - Director of the Domestic Market Management and Development Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade, the whole country has 218 border markets, only the Vietnam - Cambodia border has 85 markets, accounting for 39%; more than 70% of border markets of this route are concentrated in Tay Ninh, Dong Thap and An Giang.
The country has 25 shopping malls and supermarkets, with 8 supermarkets on the Vietnam - Cambodia border alone, without a shopping mall, accounting for 67% and 1 logistics center. In the first 9 months of 2025, import and export through Vietnam - Cambodia land border gates reached 5.9 billion USD, up 15.5% over the same period in 2024.

Currently, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is in the process of developing policies and many new policies will be advised on for change and drafting. The Ministry of Industry and Trade has registered and the Government has agreed to start drafting and amending trade laws next year after more than 20 years. In which, commercial infrastructure and border trade infrastructure are very important contents.
