Within the framework of the working trip to China, on April 17, 2026, a delegation from Phu Tho province led by Mr. Tran Duy Dong - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee visited and worked at the factory headquarters of BYD Group. Also attending was Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung - Consul of Vietnam in Guangzhou.
Receiving and working with the working delegation were Mr. Han Thu Lam - General Director of BYD Electronics Vietnam Company and a team of senior management leaders of the enterprise.
Currently, BYD is one of the leading technology corporations in China and the world, operating in 4 main manufacturing sectors including: automobiles, trains, electronic components and renewable energy. In 2025, BYD officially became the world's No. 1 electric vehicle manufacturer in terms of net electric vehicle sales (BEV).
Representatives of BYD's leadership expressed interest in expanding investment in Vietnam, including the possibility of implementing projects to produce electric cars, electric buses, electric trucks and new energy batteries in Phu Tho, serving the domestic market and export.
Speaking at the working session, Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee Tran Duy Dong emphasized that Phu Tho is a potential destination for international investors thanks to its strategic location, convenient connecting transport infrastructure, competitive costs and increasingly improved investment environment.
In particular, after the merger, the scale of development and quality of human resources of the province continued to be improved, creating a foundation to attract large-scale, high-tech projects.
Currently, the whole province has 742 FDI projects, with a total registered capital of 13.96 billion USD. Of which, China has 180 projects with a total registered capital of 3.57 billion USD, accounting for 24% of the total number of FDI projects and 26% of total FDI capital in Phu Tho province. Typical is the BYD Vietnam Electronics Factory project with an investment capital of 411 million USD (Phu Ha Industrial Park).
In the coming time, Phu Tho province is committed to continuing to accompany, promptly remove obstacles, and create the most favorable conditions for BYD's production and business activities in Phu Tho" - Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee affirmed.
At the working session, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded the Investment Certificate with the contents adjusting the capital increase of the BYD Vietnam Electronics Factory Project. This is an administrative procedure resolved according to the "green channel" 24h mechanism - the Investment Certificate is issued within 24 hours from the time of submitting the dossier.
Emphasizing that this is a clear demonstration of the province's determination in administrative procedure reform, accompanying, supporting, and creating the most favorable conditions for investors and investment projects in Phu Tho province, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that after receiving the Investment Certificate, the leaders of BYD Vietnam Electronics Factory will implement according to the project's progress.
At the same time, research and implement a project to build an electric car manufacturing and assembly plant in Phu Tho. The province is committed to creating all favorable conditions in terms of mechanisms, policies, land funds and administrative procedures to accompany businesses in the long-term investment, production, and business process.
