For a decade, I have not seen a tractor-trailer
Having been trading pork products at Go Vap market (Go Vap district, Ho Chi Minh City) for nearly 18 years, many customers have come to ask to buy sugarcane, but Ms. N.H.T has never had this item for sale.
"I only know that this type of heart is extremely rare, and if I have hundreds of heart surgeries per day, I can't quite get a set of cigarette nests. In recent years, seeing many customers coming to ask to buy in large quantities, I also find it strange because there is not much to do," said Ms. T.
Ms. Dieu Huong - a long-time regular customer of Mrs. T's restaurant also said that if you want to buy quality cigarette butts, you have to go to large slaughterhouses in the city or wait for an order, but it will take a long time to get them.
"I was lucky enough to buy a suitcase from an acquaintance's surgery room, but it was 3-4 years ago. I have to beg people to sell because this type of food is very delicious, crispy, and rare, so they often keep it for relatives in the family to eat and not sell," said Ms. Huong.
At An Nhon market (Ward 17, Go Vap district), cigarette butts are also very scarce. Ms. Van - the owner of the pork stall at this market said that she did not dare to accept orders for cigarettes from customers because she did not know when they would be available to return the goods.
"I often suggest customers to buy the young intestines for 200,000 VND/kg, the food is also very delicious, but the young intestines are welcome. Even if I go all over the city, I can't buy it, not just this market," said Ms. Van.
At some other markets in the city such as Tan Dinh market (District 1), Thu Duc market (Thu Duc city), ... there is also a "missing" of cigarette butts.
According to the reporter's research, the price of cigarette butts on the market is currently quite high, ranging from 1.5 - 3 million VND/kg. Although the price is many times higher than the regular type of heart, many diners are still willing to spend money to enjoy this "rarely found" specialty.
The price of 3 million VND for a set of cigarette cars is too "virtual"
Talking to Lao Dong newspaper about the recent upheavals related to cigarette butts, Mr. Nguyen Minh Hieu - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City chefs Association, Chi Hoi under the Ho Chi Minh City Food Association - said that in addition to doubts about the origin and quality of cigarette butts that many businesses are advertising, another issue that needs to be verified is the price of this item.
According to Mr. Hieu, the current price of 3 million VND/kg of cigarette butts on the market is too "virtual" and not commensurate with the nutritional value that this dish brings.
The head of the Ho Chi Minh City chefs' Association compared that Spanish Iberico pork imported to Vietnam is currently being sold for about 800,000 VND/kg. This is a type of pig with high nutritional value, containing a lot of protein as well as B vitamins, a product that helps boost immunity and is good for the heart.
Meanwhile, cigarette butts are being advertised at a price of 3 million VND, but the nutritional quality is extremely modest, no different from regular butts priced from 60,000 - 200,000 VND/kg. This is a type of organ with a high fat content, if consumed in moderation, it can also affect cardiovascular health.
" such a comparison makes consumers see that it is unreasonable for businesses to sell a set of cigarettes for a million VND," said Mr. Hieu.
