According to Decree 162/2026/ND-CP of the Government, from July 1, 2026, pensions and social insurance allowances will increase by an additional 8%.
The information that pensions are adjusted to increase from July 1st makes many elderly people excited, expecting more financial resources to cover living expenses and improve the quality of life.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hung (Giang Vo ward, Hanoi) said that he was very happy to hear the news that his pension was adjusted to increase from July 1.
Living costs in recent years have fluctuated a lot, while the elderly incur more expenses for medical examination and treatment. The increase in pensions helps us have more conditions to cover our lives and feel more secure when we get old," Mr. Hung shared.
Similarly, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Thao (Kim Lien ward, Hanoi) said that her current pension is mainly used by her to buy medicine and daily expenses.
Although the increase is not too large, it is still a very practical source of encouragement. Elderly people are no longer able to work much, so any adjustment helps reduce spending pressure," Ms. Thao said.

According to records, in addition to meeting basic living needs, many elderly people expect increased pensions to help them have better health care conditions, participate in community activities and improve their quality of life.
Mr. Pham Duc Minh (Hai Phong) said that after retiring, he spends most of his time on sports activities and activities at the local elderly club.
When I have an extra income, I can be more proactive in regular health check-ups, participate in social activities and spend a small amount to support my children and grandchildren when necessary," Mr. Minh shared.

Many elderly people also expressed their desire for social security policies to continue to be concerned, especially in the context of increasing life expectancy and increasing healthcare needs of the elderly.
From July 1, 2026, the pension level, social insurance allowance and monthly allowance will increase by 8% on the benefit level of June 2026 for 9 groups of subjects applied according to regulations.
At the same time, the base salary was also increased to 2,530,000 VND/month.
Notably, in addition to the general increase of 8%, the Government also implemented a second pension increase policy for some low-entitlement groups to improve the lives of retirees.
According to regulations, people who receive a second pension increase must belong to 7 groups of subjects according to regulations, have retired to receive pensions or allowances before January 1, 1995 and after an increase of 8% still have a benefit level below 3.8 million VND/month.
For cases with a benefit level equal to or lower than 3.5 million VND/month, it will be increased by 300,000 VND/month. Cases with a benefit level above 3.5 million VND/month but below 3.8 million VND/month will be increased to 3.8 million VND/month.
