The Vietnamese women's volleyball team will enter the AVC Cup 2026 with the task of defending the championship, in the context that this year's tournament is predicted to have a very high level of competition.
One of the major challenges for coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team is that the group stage matches of the Vietnamese team mostly take place at 8 am (Vietnam time). This is a rare time frame in international tournaments, forcing the team to adjust their living and training plans to adapt.
During the preparation process, the coaching staff increased morning training sessions to help athletes get used to the intensity of exercise as well as the competition state at the time corresponding to the official kick-off time.
AVC Cup 2026 takes place from June 6 to 14 in the Philippines with the participation of 12 teams including Vietnam, Philippines, Korea, Kazakhstan, Iran, Indonesia, Australia, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Uzbekistan, Taiwan (China) and Hong Kong (China).
In this year's tournament, the Vietnamese women's team is still considered one of the bright candidates for the championship thanks to its stable performance in recent years.
However, many teams in the region have made strong investments in force as well as preparation, promising to create fierce competition.
