According to the Department of Industry and Trade, recently, the mass media has reflected some information related to the purchasing and use of raw materials of Ha Long Canned Food Joint Stock Company (address at 71 Le Lai, Ngo Quyen ward, Hai Phong).
To proactively implement measures to ensure food safety, protect the legitimate rights of consumers and businesses, and at the same time strengthen the responsibility of self-review in commercial business activities, the Department of Industry and Trade requests supermarkets and commercial business establishments in the city to proactively coordinate and exchange with commodity suppliers to review legal dossiers, documents proving origin, quality of products and goods being traded. At the same time, pay attention to inspecting and reviewing products subject to suspension of circulation and recall (if any) according to official information of competent authorities.
Units proactively monitor and update official information that has been verified on mass media to promptly inspect and review goods being traded. On that basis, implement appropriate measures according to regulations for products that do not fully meet food safety and origin conditions, in order to ensure consumer rights and the reputation of businesses.
The Department of Industry and Trade also requested units to strengthen internal self-inspection and supervision of food goods traded in the distribution system, contributing to risk prevention, and preventing the business of goods of unclear origin and quality not guaranteed according to the provisions of law.
Previously, the City Police informed that on September 8, 2025, the Economic Police Department - City Police discovered 2 cars, arrested Le Ba Doanh (born in 1977, residing in An Bien ward) and Trinh Ha Viet (born in 1991, residing in Ha Nam commune, Hai Phong city) who were transporting and trading 1,274.5 kg of slaughtered pork, with a foul odor, without origin, positive for African swine fever virus from the epidemic area to companies and establishments processing pork products in the area.
Test results determined that pork samples taken from the subjects' cars and pork samples in cold storages of Ha Long Canned Food Joint Stock Company were positive for African swine fever virus. Through an emergency search of the headquarters and warehouses of Ha Long Canned Food Joint Stock Company, the City Police sealed 4 warehouses containing about 130 tons of frozen pork. The City Police Investigation Agency also issued a Decision to prosecute the case of "Violating regulations on food safety". At the same time, prosecuted 9 defendants for the act of providing and trading food originating from dead pigs and weak pigs due to African swine fever under Clause 4, Article 317 of the Penal Code.
On January 10, the City People's Procuracy approved the emergency detention order of the Investigation Police Agency of Hai Phong City Police for Truong Sy Toan (born in 1969, residing in Ha Lam ward, Quang Ninh province) - General Director of Ha Long Canned Food Joint Stock Company; 3 company employees including Pham Thi Thuy Lan (born in 1980, registered permanent residence in Hong Bang ward, Hai Phong, current residence in An Hai ward, Hai Phong) - Deputy Head of Quality Management Department; Bui Thi Thoan (born in 1979, residing in Dong Hai ward, Hai Phong) - employee assigned to directly manage the input material quality inspection team on issues related to the quality of raw materials before being put into warehouse and put into production); Lai Thi Thanh Huong (born in 1974, residing in Ngo Quyen ward, Hai Phong) - employee working at the input department of the Quality Management Department, responsible for inspecting the quality of raw materials for fresh pork. Currently, the case is continuing to be investigated and clarified.
After the incident at Ha Long Canned Food, a series of supermarkets in the city have withdrawn all products of this brand from the shelves.
