STEM education is an educational method to equip students with scientific knowledge associated with their practical applications.
The content of STEM-themed lessons is associated with the relatively complete resolution of a problem, in which students are organized to participate in learning actively, proactively and know how to apply the knowledge they have just learned to solve the problem; thereby contributing to the formation of qualities and abilities for students.
Originating from the idea of General Secretary To Lam, Petrovietnam has had the initiative to implement the "STEM Innovation Petrovietnam" Program. With the goal of building 100 STEM rooms that meet international standards in 34 provinces and cities across the country.
This is the largest education project ever initiated by a business, a national strategic step in training human resources in science and technology, contributing to the formation of a new generation of knowledgeable citizens in Vietnam.
The STEM rooms in the program are designed according to the "accessive - standardized - sustainable" model, equipped with smart interactive boards, AI"IoT system, Robotics VEX, 3D printer, CNC cutter, energy - environment experimentum, meeting international reference standards such as FabLab, NGSS, ISTE, CSTA and in line with the 2018 general education program.
STEM Innovation Petrovietnam also aims to promote connectivity and connectivity between domestic and international STEM departments (primactively with Singapore), with research departments in domestic universities and research institutes on training talented students and talented students.
The program creates conditions for organizing STEM clubs, STEM competitions, career guidance - startup activities and professional sharing sessions for teachers.
Since the program was launched, after nearly 2 months, Petrovietnam has actively promoted the implementation, coordinating with the Departments of Education and Training of provinces/cities to inaugurate and put into use dozens of STEM rooms in: Hanoi, Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh, Hung Yen, Ca Mau, Tuyen Quang...
STEM Innovation Petrovietnam: Opportunities for innovation in teaching and learning
At Phan Boi Chau - Nam Dong High School (Lam Dong), which was chosen to build a STEM practice room, Mr. Vuong Xuan Trung - Principal of the school - acknowledged this as a "precious opportunity" for a school in a region with many difficulties in facilities.
According to Mr. Trung, the STEM department will help teachers have more tools to implement intuitive lessons, organize research projects, young creative competitions, link lessons with practice, and support students in orienting their careers in the future.
In Hanoi, at Cau Giay Secondary School, Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai - Vice Principal - said that teaching and learning efficiency has "changed significantly" after the classroom came into operation.
The modern STEM room allows teachers to organize integrated and lively lessons, maximize initiative and creativity, and at the same time become a "launching pad" for technology playgrounds such as the VEX IQ 2025 Paper Bridge Robotics Tournament.
In Muong Nhe, where most students are children of ethnic minorities, access to the STEM education model is considered a valuable opportunity.

From the perspective of educational management, Dr. Dang Van Son (Vietnam STEM Alliance) assessed the STEM rooms invested by Petrovietnam as "a modern group of rooms, capable of leading and improving the general level".
The STEM Innovation Petrovietnam program is a strong commitment of Petrovietnam - an ethnic enterprise for national benefits to connect the major policies of the Party and State with very specific changes in each school hour, each classroom, each school - where the old STEM pillars of Vietnam are being nurtured for the countrys journey to the future.
