On the evening of February 16 (ie, the 29th of the Binh Ngo Tet), in the sacred atmosphere of the moment of transition between the old year and the new year, Corps 20 - Saigon Newport Corporation solemnly organized a New Year's Eve welcoming ceremony and issued the order to start the first goods of spring at Tan Cang - Cat Lai port. This is a traditional event every spring, marking the beginning of a new year full of expectations for the seaport industry.
Attending were Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee...

At Tan Cang - Cat Lai port, the working atmosphere on New Year's Eve is no different from normal days in intensity, but more bustling. To ensure smooth cargo flow, each production shift during Binh Ngo Tet has more than 1,000 workers directly managing, operating and serving customers. The "Through Tet" spirit of workers and engineers here is the decisive factor to maintain the 24/7 production pace.
According to information from the unit, during this year's Lunar New Year, the port welcomed 70 cargo ships with a throughput of 112,000 Teus, equivalent to nearly 1.6 million tons of goods. Especially on New Year's Eve, the sound of engines echoed throughout the wharves when the port welcomed 7 container ships at the same time. Total loading and unloading output in the night reached nearly 11,200 Teus (equivalent to 155,000 tons of goods), an impressive figure signaling the strong recovery of Vietnam's economy in 2026.
Right at the moment of issuing the order, the first container was loaded onto the EVER BRAVE ship of EVER GREEN shipping lines with a tonnage of nearly 37,000 tons. This shipment containing electronic components will travel through Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia before reaching India. Notably, this is a key export item, contributing to bringing Ho Chi Minh City's export turnover to a record milestone of more than 98 billion USD in the past year.
Entering 2026, Corps 20 - Saigon Newport Corporation sets a goal to maintain growth momentum in the "era of national rise". The unit strongly focuses on 5 business pillars, striving for revenue and profit targets to increase by 12%, labor productivity to increase by over 8.5%. In particular, the logistics service sector is targeted for breakthrough growth of over 20% compared to 2025.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong highly appreciated the "overcoming sun and winning rain" efforts of Tan Cang workers. He affirmed that the City will drastically promote administrative reform and complete the logistics industry development project to 2030, creating the most favorable environment for businesses like Tan Cang Saigon to continue to break through, contributing to the recovery and general economic development.
Not only bustling in production, the spirit of mutual affection is also shining right at the moment of New Year's Eve. At the ceremony, Corps 20 donated 5.4 billion VND to support the "For the Poor" Fund and the "For the Homeland's Islands and Seas" Fund of Ho Chi Minh City. The first shipments of the year leaving the wharf not only carry goods, but also carry faith and determination for a prosperous and smooth new year for the country's economy.
