Update on new trends in the alumin - aluminum industry
On August 20-26, General Director of Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (TKV) Vu Anh Tuan and the TKV delegation had a working program in China, attending the 13th China Aluminum Industry Science and Technology Development Conference; and surveying and learning about the reality at a number of research facilities and alumin and aluminum production enterprises with large scale and advanced technology.
In Shenyang city, Liaoning province, the delegation attended the 13th China Aluminum Industry Science and Technology Development Conference and the Summit on Technology Innovation and International Development. The conference was co-organized by the Shenyang Aluminum - Magnesium Research and Technology Institute (SAMI) and many universities, research institutes, and technical research centers in the field of color metals of China.
The conference gathered experts, scientists, and businesses to share advanced technology, new research results, promote technological innovation and application of science in production, towards developing the high-quality aluminum industry.
The TKV delegation has the opportunity to update new trends in the alumin - aluminum industry, especially solutions to improve efficiency, save energy, reduce emissions, develop green production and apply modern technology in management and operation.
Established in 1951, SAMI is a unit with strengths in scientific and technological research and development, construction design consulting, EPC general contractor, green equipment development, digitization and smart applications. To date, SAMI has implemented more than 5,000 design consulting projects, designed more than 500 aluminum, magnesium, titanium and carbon factories; owning hundreds of patents and many national-level scientific and technological research platforms.
TKV strengthens exchanges and connections with international partners
On August 23, General Director Vu Anh Tuan and the TKV working delegation conducted a field survey at Ha Bac Van Phong New Materials Co., Ltd. - a large-scale enterprise in the field of producing alumina and new types of aluminum-based materials.
This enterprise currently operates many large-scale alumina production lines. Phase 1 includes 4 lines, each line with a capacity of 1.2 million tons/year, total capacity of 4.8 million tons/year; phase 2 includes 3 lines with a total capacity of 4.95 million tons/year; phase 3 continues to be invested with 3 lines, total designed capacity of 4.95 million tons/year.
Through actual surveys, the working delegation learned about technological solutions being applied in the alumin production process, including high-humidity bauxite treatment technology, low-energy crushing technology, heat recovery, alkalinization and iron purification from red mud. The factory also applies air-compressed suspended kilns with a capacity of 5,500 tons/day along with many solutions to utilize heat and reduce energy consumption throughout the production process.
On August 24, the TKV working delegation continued to survey Bao Dau Aluminum Plant, a unit directly under China Aluminum Group.
After 68 years of construction and development, Bao Dau Aluminum Factory has become one of the important aluminum industrial facilities in northern China. Currently, the enterprise has a capacity of 1.3 million tons of electrolyte aluminum/year, a self-use power generation capacity of 1,710MW and a super-pure aluminum production capacity of 60,000 tons/year. The factory is recognized as a national-level circular economy enterprise, with technical capacity in self-use power generation and electrolyte aluminum production equipment belonging to the leading group in the industry.
Here, the working delegation learned about production models, electrolysis aluminum technology, power supply systems and solutions for circular economic development, green production, digitization, and smarting in enterprises.
Through international cooperation, TKV continues to connect with partners, research organizations, and businesses in the field of alumina - aluminum; updating trends, new technologies and experiences in green production, energy saving, circular economy, emission reduction, and digital transformation. Thereby, expanding opportunities for scientific and technological cooperation, investment, production and business, serving the goal of sustainable development.
