On November 30, Lao Dong news source reported that the leaders of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee have just decided to revoke the mineral exploitation license granted to Thuy Tien Mineral Company Limited (Thuy Tien Company) due to tax arrears.
Binh Dinh provincial leaders requested that within 6 months from the date the mineral exploitation license was revoked, Thuy Tien Company must submit the original mineral exploitation license to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment; submit the exploitation report, related documents, geological samples, and move the remaining assets of the company and related parties out of the mineral exploitation area.
"Phu My district directs My Hiep and My Quang communes to manage and protect unexploited minerals in the mining area. The Department of Natural Resources and Environment shall preside over and coordinate with the Environmental Protection Fund and relevant agencies to handle the environmental restoration deposit paid by Thuy Tien Company according to regulations. The provincial Tax Department shall review and handle the budget debt of Thuy Tien Company in mineral activities according to regulations," the leader of Binh Dinh province requested.
According to PV's investigation, Thuy Tien Company was granted a license by Binh Dinh province to exploit stone for common construction materials at Cam mountain (My Hiep commune and My Quang commune, Phu My district) from January 7, 2014.
Exploited area is more than 44 hectares, geological reserves are more than 14 million m3, exploitable reserves are more than 12 million m3, covered soil reserves are more than 6 million m3, exploitation period is 30 years.
However, because Thuy Tien Company violated its tax payment obligations, the Binh Dinh Provincial Tax Department proposed revoking the mineral exploitation license of this company.
Through working with the company, related parties and based on the recommendation of the tax authority, on June 18, 2024, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Binh Dinh province proposed the Provincial People's Committee to revoke the mining license of Thuy Tien Company.
On July 26, 2024, this company paid an additional fee of 3 billion VND for the right to exploit minerals at the above quarry, but still owed more than 5.4 billion VND for the right to exploit according to the exploitation license and more than 2.6 billion VND for late payment of the right to exploit.
Therefore, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Binh Dinh province has requested the Provincial People's Committee to revoke the mineral exploitation license granted to this company.
