As one of the main roads in the center of Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City, Hoa Binh Avenue has many intersections and branches with high traffic density. In recent times, this place has often been the site of collisions, traffic conflicts, and even traffic accidents.
According to local residents, along Hoa Binh Avenue, the intersections in front of Luu Huu Phuoc Park are often congested, especially during rush hours; the intersections of Hoa Binh Avenue - De Tham Street - Nguyen Thai Hoc Street often have traffic accidents.
Realizing the complicated situation of disorder, traffic safety and traffic accidents, recently, the Traffic Safety Committee of Can Tho City has completed the project of renovating and installing a new intelligent traffic light system on the entire Hoa Binh Avenue, from Luu Huu Phuoc Park to the roundabout in front of the City People's Committee.
Mr. Chau Van Hieu (60 years old, Ninh Kieu district) said that since the new traffic light system was installed, traffic accidents at some intersections on Hoa Binh Avenue have decreased by about 80%.
"I am very happy to see that people's traffic is convenient. In particular, this route has many schools, so every school day, it also limits traffic jams or collisions and conflicts for students and parents," Mr. Hieu said excitedly.
Regarding the intersections in front of Luu Huu Phuoc Park, Mr. Pham Van Hai (61 years old, Ninh Kieu district) said that the current situation of disorder and traffic safety has been partially resolved, but during rush hour, it is still difficult to avoid congestion, because this location has many intersections and branches.
Talking to Lao Dong, Mr. Mai Minh Ngoan - Chief of Office of Traffic Safety Board of Can Tho City - informed that after about 2 weeks of piloting, the City Traffic Safety Board found that the situation of disorder, traffic safety, conflicts, collisions, and traffic accidents on Hoa Binh Avenue has decreased significantly, and people's traffic is also very convenient and safe.
However, because this is one of the new solutions to regulate traffic, at this time, traffic participants are not driving in the correct lane, not in accordance with the intention and traffic organization plan of the Traffic Safety Committee, leading to traffic congestion still occurring during rush hour at the intersections in front of Luu Huu Phuoc Park.
To overcome this situation, the City Traffic Safety Committee is strengthening propaganda work, requiring Traffic Inspectors and Traffic Police to coordinate with the Committee and related units to guide traffic participants to follow traffic organization plans at this intersection.
“Regarding the people's feedback and suggestions on the arrangement and adjustment of the light beams, the City Traffic Safety Committee has also received and made adjustments, prioritizing the arrangement of more green light beams on the main route of Hoa Binh Avenue, to help the traffic flow faster and more smoothly,” Mr. Ngoan added.
